Has everything been changed to a black hue and you cant figure out why?
The reason why everything is black is because UO has black internalized and when it cannot access a hues.mul file, it defaults everything (even fonts) to that color. Well there is a way to fix this (sometimes wont work). Restart your computer and try to delete the offending hues.mul file. This problem DOES happen with OSI hues, although not as often as with custom hues. It seems that the client leaves the hues file open, or somehow windows NT/2K/XP/2K3 (all NTFS supporting windows operating systems) lock the file up. To unlock it, try to copy/cut/delete the file to move it somewhere else or delete it. If this is not possible (as it wont), make sure you are on "the" administrator account. Once on the administrator account, try to delete it again. If you already were and it is not working, then go to properties of the file, and click on the advanced tab. There should be a securities tab somewhere in which you can click to check your privileges to the file. Make sure the account(s) Administrator and Administrators is listed. If not, then add it in (Administrators is a group level as apposed to Administrator which is an account). After you have added yourself in, go to the tab which allow/disallows certain options to the file (there is a small checklist for them). Make sure to click ALLOW for everything. After that click okay, and then restart the computer. If it is still black in UO, and you cannot delete the file then you may have to wait a week or two until it is unlocked under one of the computer's generalized file sweeps. During that time, dont touch the file and install UO to ANOTHER directory. Installing over it will just error out, and you will have half of an install. |
