On IRC servers running UnrealIRCd, if changes are made to the unrealircd.conf file (analogically the same as adding, removing, or changing a script in RUO), all an operator has to do to apply the changes to the server is give the /rehash command. Nobody need disconnect from the server while the changes are updated, and it does not ever cause lag.
I was wondering if rather than going to the admin console and doing "Shutdown and Restart", you could give a rehash command somewhere that would load up another RUO console window, and when that window finishes compiling and whatnot, only then should it close the first one and make that one the active one. This would also protect against people screwing up their servers because it would abort the rehash if the new RUO console didn't load properly. It might be impossible to allow for no disconnections like in Unreal, but it should still be possible to have it so that players can log in the second after they get disconnected, right? |

the problem is, that the scripts.dll is in usage but get's compiled with the runuo start..
therefore your solution would only work with two seperate compilepaths... and you have to turn of the runningserver before the newly compiled server tries to access the worldsave files |

This is simple
This will NEVER be supported by the RunUO Team/Community Only fools would test a script on a live shard. A recompile command allows you to do thjis, and thus will not be supported. Plus IT does and will cause problems if it was were to use. |
