Arrow Advanced Character Creation Gates

I have created some custom scripts that will create moongates that, when characters walk through them, will change their stats to be the same as the advanced characters offered on the Official UO servers.

Installation:
Unzip *.cs files to your scripts directory.

Usage:
[add {gatename}

Replace {gatename} with one of the following names:

BardGate
BlacksmithGate
MageGate
NecromancerGate
PaladinGate
TamerGate
TreasureHunterGate
WarriorGate

Here are the changes that each gate will make:

BardGate -
85 Provocation
85 Musicianship
85 Peacemaking
70 Discordance
70 Resist Spells
85 Strength
85 Dexterity
55 Intelligence

BlacksmithGate -
85 Blacksmithing
85 Mining
85 Arms Lore
70 Tinkering
70 Tailoring
100 Strength
90 Dexterity
25 Intelligence

MageGate -
85 Magery
85 Resist Spells
85 Evaluate Intelligence
70 Inscription
70 Meditation
80 Strength

Thanks, I think it is the only part that isn't like OSI, never bought a warrior adv char from them though

Exclamation Resistances gettin F'd

Yo, I like the script but at least for me, with nothing but distro scripts and a few new items, these scripts also set the resistances for whomever enters them static. This, in my eyes, is a major problem. I'm runnin rc1.0. Is there something on my end causing this? Has anyone else experienced this? Please reply because I'd like to use these on my shard. Thanks!

Great script iv been looking for one like this...Good work

If i can make a suggestion when they walk though the gate maybe they could only click one button and they get all warrior skills that you put...

This is a nice idea, but when you say when you wealk through the gate it sets to those settings. Does that mean it sets it so those are the caps for each skill and stat? Or does it set it RIGHT to that amount when you go in it?

If so where is the regular gate that you can pick your 'Base' class or w/e

MageGate -

85 Magery

When you walk into you just click one button and you get all the skill above!

Ah Ok, so it isn't a class gate where it sets those to being the caps. . .

Nope, this is just a script that will allow you to offer the same perks that OSI does for advancing your characters in game.

Question Problem with Advanced Character Template Gates

Great Script, btw....the problem is this:

When a new character enters the gate room and picks his/her template. Everything works great. However, if they immediately go into another gate, it gives them THAT template as well. Not clearing the previous template or keeping them gaining the second template.

Could someone direct me to fixing this? I would appreciate it.

The only suggestion for a work around for this is to put the gates in different rooms. These are not meant to be used as class or race gates. If you reset the players attributes on each walk through the gate then you will have some players very upset at losing skills that they may want to have kept. If anyone else has any suggestions just let me know.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I obviously implemented them on the shard, tested, and found that problem, so it was important to get it fixed quickly before anyone could see that and take advantage of it.

Now, I needed help because it's been a long time since I scripted in c# and I wasn't that great to begin with. I know that there was an easy way to do it...a line of code.......but I couldnt think of it and for the life of me couldnt find anything on the forums.....

So, what I did was set every other skill for each gate to set at 0.

So, now when a player enters one gate, they'll get the template....if they try to enter another gate, the first template will be removed and the new template added.

That is another possible solution. What happens when the person using the gate already has some skills that they want to keep? Then again they ARE trying to cheat the system so it is their problem but still, it could cause some issues. Either way, glad to see you got it working.

Yeah, that could be a problem IF I allowed that. Basically they have the choice, Adv character templates (which I may make others and other styles of templates) or they go from scratch. UP to them.

So, I dont deal with complaints that way.

Darkness, that's what I wanted as well. It's really very easy. You already have the line of code in each script for each template. Just duplicate that line for every skill and set the skill at 0.

thanks for the script, this will help me out alot as I plan to reopen my small server for just some friends to play on... now I wont have to hear them complain that I wasnt on to help their new chars start out as I dont really have the time to really run a shard properly...and if they want a gm skilled char they will still have to do some working on it : ]
