I know that someone already wrote something about a harvest system. But is someone working on a whole FARMSYSTEM? Like the sphere one? With cows that give milk and chickens which lay eggs and that you can make cheese out of milk?
Or ..erm.. is that already implemented? |

Is the Plant Growing System the potted flower thing, or actually growing harvestable crops? If OSI does not have harvestable crops, I will begin working on something of that sort.
*goes off to read up on the resource system*

@Phantom
I know that Sphere doesnīt have that by default, but that doesnīt mean that RunUO couldnīt have that, does it? It was written by a sphere scripter. Great work. Just wanted to know if any RunUO scripter is working on something like that. Heres te loink to the Sphere FARMERSYSTEM (description in german and download): http://www.uofd.info/forum/portal.php?cat=downloads&action=viewid&id=272 Maybe a scripter here can get some ideas out of it. |

RunUO is going to do only OSI things.
The Plant System is an OSI thing. Otherwise it won't happen by the Devs.... I hate Sphere, and all Sphere scripters want Sphere stuff, well THIS IS SPHERE, this is RunUO! They wan't some of the dumbest crap you can imagine. Stuff that made me leave Sphere.... |

Well after 1.0 is released, and the devs have taken a well earnt break, I am sure they will work on a script package that includes some fun features.
Come on... OSI doesnt update for months at a time sometimes, there will be plenty of time to do fun stuff. - Dark Konoko |

Ok, heres the README (translated from german to english) I did it in a hurry so please frogive me the errors *g* - but I think you will be able to understand it:
"A farmersystem (based on the plant and apple tree script from AdminPhantas and the pottet reags script by GMTracker): It contains milkanimals which can be milked by their owner with a milkjug. Therfore they have to be feeded and they also produce dung (manure, shit *g*). The dung which you get from the animals can be used to dung the apple and the peach tree. You can make cream out of the milk. And with the creamscoop ypu can fill a pitcher and get Kefir (donīt know how to translate kefir maybe I donīt have to?) OR you make butter out of the cream in a butterbarrel OR you make cheese out of the milk in a cheesebarrel then you can get the cheese out of the barrel with a cheesenet. You can make sandwiches out of the cheese and the butter with a butterknife (you need bread for that). You can get seeds from the harvest with a vegetableknife and start planting again (Fruits, grain, cotton and tobacco). If you harvest tobacco you can dry it in a dryingcupboard and use it for the tobbacopipe from Trialf (other script by trialf). A fruitpress produces juice out of fruits. You can make wine and liqueur and gin out of this juice. The script also contains a beerbrewery. Theres also a fishing rod. It contains loads of other small things such as a vendor who sells the milk-animals and tools." I hope this helps. |

Wow, this looks to be an complex and cool script.
the milk thing are easy to do, the dung is somewhat more complex and the fruit sys i would have to have a base(the original sphere script translated) to try to make it if you translate it send to : atomicshard@bol.com.br i will try to make it, but this week i am full of things to do, so it will take some time |

This is the way the farming system was implemented in a POL server:
All vegtables (and some other stuff like wheat) could be planted in furrows. The plants took a couple of real time hours to grow in which a player had to keep them weeded else the weeds would kill off the plants. The player could use his farming skill to get an indication when the plants would be ripe for picking (so and so in game days) as well as how weedy the crops are. At harvest time, a player with a high enough farming skill could not only gain the crops but seeds with which he could grow more crops. In addition to this reagent plants were introduced as wild growing plants. Seeds could also be collected from the garlic, mandrake and nightshade plants and used to plant your own...anywhere. These plants were then processed with a knife to give you the various reagents. It was rather interesting to watch neglected fields become fields of weeds :P I think that his combined with the milking of cows could make for a great farming system. |

I'm beginning my personal farming script tonight, but first i'm starting with the ability to harvest honey from beehives.
I think when i get that working, i will be able to use that code as a template to get milk from cows, fruit from trees and hamburgers from cows (how do they DO that?! i mean, ham is pig right?) |

I played on a shard a long while back which had all of those implemented (was a pol shard) except you didn't have to weed the furrows (though I like this idea) and you needed a milking stool to milk cows/llamas *shudder*. Pity the shard has since closed down, was great fun.
As for the brewery part of it I've been trying to write a good brewing script and will post it if it's anything worthwhile. G'luck with the scripts.. Cheers |
