Default A question/suggestion regarding the current magic system...

In one of the future releases, will the spell and reagent lsts be available for scripters to edit? I've been working on Necromancy spells, but I'm limited to replacing existing ones in the spell book, and can't add custom reagents.

necromancey is going to have a new spell book when AoS is released
so im assuming after is released the devs will look at this and see how to add this new spell book and new combat changes and the new land and houseing tho i do beleave that the spell book and regs for necromancey could be scripted now, but im not 100% sure how to do this. have you looked at the reagent script in the spell folder? if not id look at this and try to change it to a necro reg script that way there is the normal and the necro.

Well, the problem I've got is that there are two files that I can't seem to find anywhere: server.spells and server.reagents. I've tried adding new regs and spells, but I just get a string of errors. I've done a search for the spells one, and only found the spell folder with that name in RunUO

I'm hopefully just being dense - could anyone point me in the right direction? I know AoS has Necromancy, but it's just so easy to code in RunUO. I created an Uus Corp spell last night that I'm modifying to summon a random undead (currently just summons a skeleton) that will attack just about anything. I'm also going to fit a karma drop in there for summoning, and give the summoned undead special loot (skeletons get bones and fertile dirt, zombies get body parts and fertile dirt, Liches get fertile dirt and a couple of other necro regs, etc.)
It'd also help with the creation of spells for Glacial staves, or race-specific spells (like the Meer bee swarm, or the Betrayer Mass-Poison, or the similar Liche Lord spell Summon Undead)

Those two namespaces I would guess are in the core itself. So you can't eactly edit them. You can add a new class to those namespaces of course.

Post what you have, so we have a better idea what your doing.

i already did the glacial staff and spells for it they dont use regs but the animation needs tweeking and the sounds and i couldnt figure out how to make it not unequip so if you would like to take that over its in the script suport forum under ice staff

I managed to get it working - reagents was in the spell folder...
*shakes head at own stupidity*
My code's sitting in the script board, under Necromancy Spells.

AoS is the acronym for Age of Shadows, the new Ultima Online expansion, due February 2003. It contains a system to customise your houses, a new land mass called Malas, the new classes Necromancer and Paladin, new reagents, and an overhaul of the combat system!
It's also OSI's excuse for: Not having new scenarios, not fixing bugs, not looking into queries, etc, etc, etc...
