My shard is giving this same error every few hours. Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this?

I had that same problem once ... always the same time of day and lasted for a few hours. It's extremely unlikely that it has anything to do with your server software. It is either your ISP causing it (like in my case ... even tho they said it had nothing to do with them, it went away when I changed ISP) or you have a problem with networking on your PC (or router if you have one) somewhere.
