Default What is the best way to upgrade from Beta 29 to 30?

What is the best way to upgrade from Beta 29 to 30 without losing the "world" as it's has been created.

I tried moving the beta 30 scripts and .exe into my existing RunUO folder and I get error type x.y.z not found delete all of that type y / n.

so I tried moving the Saves folder into the new Beta30 Directory and that does not work either.

Any tips? :? or should I just respawn the whole world

Thanks

Generally, you delete the Save folder from the newer RunUO (since it comes with one), and you copy your OLD save folder into the new RunUO.

Then, you copy any edited/updated/custom scripts into the new RunUO.

If you have any errors, post them. Usually it's a problem of having 2 scripts with the same namespaces or whatever OR you didn't copy an entire script set.

I'm fairly new to doing all this, but this is what I do. Sort of redundant, but it's helped me many a time..

First off, REALLY helps if you have a 2nd PC for trial and error before "going live" with the latest beta.

-zip up current RunUO
-delete directory (all contents)
-unzip/install new RunUObeta
-copy saves folder from zip into new RunUO directory
(the anal redundant part)
...I keep a copy of all custom scripts I run (including modified ones that come with the release). You can try to put ALL custom scripts in at once and pray that too many changes weren't made that will affect them. Most likely there will be some problems. Thus...
-Install 1 script at a time and weed out what works and what doesn't. Then either fix the script or post in the scripts area the problem you have and await the smart fellas here to help.

The biggest problem with the whole upgrading beta's (and why I highly recommend trying on a 2nd PC) is that if a script that doesn't work anymore is for items (as many are...) I believe if characters HAVE that item, it will delete them all on the script not working. EX - If you have a leather dye tub script and it's broken with the new beta, if you run the server anyway without the script, it will force you (I think) to delete all leather dye tubs, as there is no script for them. If you are running a test shard, that may not be an issue. But if you're trying to retain your world, then care must be taken...

I'm not saying my ways the best, or even a great way, but it's what works for me... Now if only I could get past the connection lost issue, lol
