1. Install Ultima Online and patch to the latest version of Ultima Online.
2. Install UO Gateway ( uogateway.com ).

3. Download the latest RunUO Beta - ( http://www.runuo.com/forums/downloads.php ). (See Appendix B for .NET Framework) **edit daat99 updated link at 18/09/2006**
4. Extract RunUO Beta 4 to c:\runuo (edit: obviously this means the latest RunUO version - David)
5. Open up explorer and go to the RunUO directory.
6. Double Click on RunUO.exe
7. Minimize the RunUO application.
8. Load UO Gateway ( Start->Programs->UO Gateway->UOGateway ).
9. Go to the My Servers Box.
10. Create a custom server entry by clicking New Local Server tab.
11. Set the info as you desire, but make the IP 127.0.0.1 and non-crypt
12. Click Save Settings.
13. Click your newly created entry to launch it.
14. Log in.
15. Have fun.

Appendix A:

3. Run UseUO GM Tool ( Start->Programs->UseUO->UseUO ).
4. Use UseUO to make your life easier.

1. Download the .NET framework from runuo.com
2. Install the .NET framework
3. Reboot

ok... I will try a shot at this.... once you have installed and opened UOGATEWAY.... you have to apply for mrfixit to add you to his server list. IF you are wanting to be on the list that is. IF you want something else... then this wont help... to apply ... do this...

Under Shardlist click on the ADD SHARD. all you have to do is follow the instructions in the window from there.


This is what I did. Hope it is what you needed.

Use Windows Update to install and fully update the .Net Framework v1.1. (Install it, reboot if it wants you to, and check windows update again for patches or hotfixes. Keep checking until nothing else is listed. Take the opportunity to check for other patches, I'd recommend installing everything except driver updates unless the specified device has been having trouble in which case install the new drivers too)

In rare instances, the .Net Framework will not properly install, although Windows Update thinks it has and won't let you install it again. You can use Add/Remove from the Control Panel to uninstall it (It's called Microsoft .NET Framework, also remove any associated hotfixes) and reinstall it through Windows Update (preferred option) or get the .Net Framework package directly from Microsoft through this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Keep in mind you're still going to have to install any patches or hotfixes from Windows Update if you use that downloadable package.

However this is a very rare occurance (If it's true for you, then you're the second person I've encountered with that problem since I've been here) But at this point it sounds like that's the culprit. (If you've already installed and updated the .Net Framework from Windows Update that is)

So you downloaded the latest version of RunUO, played with it a little and now you want to let others come visit your brand new world. Congratulations, you will be a shard admin in no time.

First, a word about client configurations. The users trying to connect to your shard should be using a fully patched client with encryption removed. The recommended method of disabling client encryption is UO Gateway which you can download here http://uogateway.com/download.html. As an alternate method, you can get a copy of UO-Rice here http://stud4.tuwien.ac.at/~e9425109/UO_RICE.zip that will remove the encryption routines from a UO client.
