Default Server crashes when client connects

Client can connect but when he makes his charector my server crashes, blue screen of death. I have to reboot my system everythime. He finds my server no prob but RUO crashes after he has chosen his name and tries to enter. He is fully patched and is using uogateway. I'm using 35 and I can enter locally no prob runs fine. I have a cable modem with no router and my firewall settings give RUO access.
Am I missing something simple? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx.

Try updating your drivers, otherwise it may be a bad network card.

<edit> Try changing the slot your network card is in as well. </edit>

Nic card is linksys 10/100 only 5 months old. I have the latest drivers for it installed. I can surf and Lan party no problem. I used smartbobs (something like that anyway) world, does that effect my charector creation file? The blue screen flys by so I cant read what is says I caught "IP" last time. Maybe I will try switching my nic card to different pci slot. thx for suggestions

It doesn't matter how old your card is, alot of the cheaper cards use generic drivers. You'll probably find that it's either the card or the driver.

CharacterCreation.cs won't cause a Blue Screen.

Also in some rare cases McAfee anti-virus can causeNIC issues with .NET/RunUO and Overlapped IO... If you have ANY anti-virus running, try temporarily disabling it.... if Disabiling it fixes the problem, the find a new AV software package fast (please, dont just turn AV off perminently, AV is a good thing :-) )

No. .Net is required by RunUO as well as MANY future programs in Windows. Try Zippy's suggestion, as without .Net you won't be able to run ALOT of upcomming software (And you may be having a problem with something else on the machine)

Don't just change the NIC spots... Try a different NIC altogether (if possible)

Windows NT(2K/XP/2K3) when set up correctly runs RunUO perfectly well, without any crashes, memory leaks, or other issues.

You should *ALWAYS* be up to date with patches for an OS, whether is Linux, Mac, Windows, BeOS, O/S 2, or anything else.

Default crashing issue

I'm having the same problem with the blue screen when I try to connect. I am also using a linksys network card and i'm running win2k server. I can connect find on the local machine to 127.0.0.1.

for your crashing every 30 minutes or so issue, press ctrl+alt+del and look and see if you have msblast.exe running. A friend of mine had the msblast virus and had those same symptoms.
