Since I (shamefully) never really got into the dynamics of memory management of runuo emulators here's a 'maybe' simple question for you:
Over our extended UO time we all had the (dis)pleasure of spawning our fair share of dungeons, areas and whatnot and I thought it's time to dispel some myths of spawning with some help from the community. I have been told once that there is a difference between spawning 40 monsters on a single spawner and 40 monsters each on an individual spawner. Eventually I just decided to shrug it off and since then have been putting 2 monsters on a single spawn. Now (finally) the question: In terms of resource efficiency ( memory/CPU usage) what (if any) is the most efficient way to spawn say 40 skeletons: a) I like laziness, dump 40 skels on a spawner and have a nice day b) NO, you MUST put each critter on a seperate spawner to save memory c) somewhere inbetween d) It doesn't matter What do you think? and most importantly 'why'? This is a question of interest as I assume that in about 3 months my shard will be ready for spawning and I am looking to do it with some intelligence applied hehe. |

well the easiest would be to do it on one spawner, and it is the most memory effecient simply for the lack of spawners running... but as far as the spawning goes... i prefer putting no more than 10 to a spawner for the fact that if you put more than that and you kill one it will spawn somewhere else making the monsters more and more concentrated over time...

Yeah not concerned with creature density at the moment... good to know that a single spawner is more efficient. Although I am still interested in how much that difference would be on say 1000-10000 spawners compared to 40000-400000 spawners (sticking with the 40:1 ratio).
Guess I'll have to test it hehe |
