Yes. It is not part of the XP installation

Actually it depends on the flavor of XP and the options. But easiest thing to do is just hit the update site for windows. If it lists .net framework, then you don't have it I had one XP machine that installed with .net framework, and one that didn't. *shrug*

Actually this isn't true.

The first XP CDs were released way before the 1.0 framework.

So only the SP 1 CD's would have it and thats doubtful.

Can't explain why it installed with the .NET Framework though. As far as I knew that didn't happen with XP

Ya, don't know. It was the first time I had ever installed XP and was well before I found RunUO. I put RunUO on the XP machine and it just worked without me having to install framework. By second XP box I did however I had to put framework on it. *shrug* Maybe I just did something weird and forgot about it.

I could have, but that wouldn't usually be something I would just put on. I try to keep windows to just what I need and leave the rest. Until RunUO I didn't need .net framework for anything.

Well, it's listed under Recommended Updates, and I believe it's also in SP1 (I know it's in SP2).


Also, you should install ALL recommended updates, unless you know you WON'T use it (AOL Art File support, Languages, etc).

If it even REMOTELY looks like a system, security, or application update, you should install it (Saves me a TONNE of headaches ;->)
