Default Possess

I've been trying but I can NOT get the possess command working. I am using runUO beta 6.0 and I have not edited my player mobile at all so I am just using the new one. Everytime I try to start up my shard, it says

Scripts: Compiling C# scripts...done (0 errors, 0 warnings)
Scripts: Compiling VB.net scripts...no files found.
Scripts: Verifying...done (1451 items, 424 mobiles)
World: Loading...An error was encountered while loading a saved object
- Type: Server.Mobiles.PlayerMobile

Delete the object? (y/n)

What the heck? What do I have to do?

maybe you could type Y to heum delete the item?

Pressing Y in this case will delete all your Players. If this is a live shard, that would be a bad thing. If this is a fresh install, then maybe it would be ok.

Give us a little more information, any scripts added/edited recently?

I HAVE been putting in a lot of custom scripts lately.... I don't know if its because of my version though, because once I was using runUO beta 5.0 and it all worked right away! Nope, I haven't edited any scripts though...

actually, I HAVE edited serverlist.cs and charactercreation.cs (to get rid of the test center features). But I don't think that would do much...

You are trying to load players created under the old playermobile with a new playermobile. Whatever was added for the possess scripts to the new playermobile was not found on the actual players that were created before you changed the playermobile.

You can fix this by either deleting the characters if its not a live shard and start over with new characters or you can try to get it to deserialize and serialize properly.

There is a faq on the serialization up near the top of the script forum.

I will try a simple explanation

Open up the new playermobile and find the deserialization point for the possess command. Comment it out using // before the lines. Start up your server and save and close the server. Go back to your playermobile and uncomment the lines you took out in the first step. Then run your server again. This idea should 1. Load up your players 2. Put in the prop they are missing 3. save the prop 4. allow you to start up with the full new playermobile from the possess command.

ps its runuo beta 36 if you were using beta 6 you would be using a very old version of runuo

:shock: OK, I saw the reference to beta 6.0 and thought it was a typo... please tell me you mean you are using beta 36.

Thx stormwolff. Lol, OK I'll stop calling it beta 6.0! :P I forgot what it was called so I just called it 6.0! Ok, ok, its beta 36, lol
