Hues help please

I have downloaded several hues.mul files from these forums and placed them in my client but cannot seem to get any hue to change. For example, I can change the hue number in silversteed.cs but after rebooting server the dues don't change. Doesn't seem to matter what hue number I use (tried numbers from various other scripts to no effect). I've tried notations like 0x35 and numbers like 1161.

Huesmanager from pandora's box doesn't enlighten me.

I know I'm a dummy, but could anyone see fit to help me with a quick explanation of how hues work in runuo?
