Background saving - RunUO

is it possible to make runuo do backgrund savings (no freezing the whole world every save) like some other emus do?

Absolutely, but it would require changes to the RunUO core. Basically the world would have to be serialized to a buffer, and then in a separate thread that buffer would be saved to disk.

There was a post awhile back on how to allow threaded saves...

Some people had problems, though, with corrupted worldsaves. YMMV.

Threaded saves only speeds it up a little. Not the same as a back ground save.

I use threaded saves.
