Anyone out there have any luck with the cartography fix tool?
Here are the commands to use the tool: USAGE - decoding an existing multimap: "cartograph.exe -decode multimap.rle map.bmp" this creates a bitmap called "map.bmp" which shows the data from your "multimap.rle" file. USAGE - encoding a new multimap from a bitmap: "cartograph.exe -encode multimap.rle map2.bmp" this creates a new "multimap.rle" file from the bitmap "map.bmp". copy the new multimap.rle over your existing file in the uo folder. To test the functionality of the program, I tried using it by decoding the standard OSI map, then encoding it. So I just ran the commands above. The problem I am seeing is the multimap.rle file that it is creating isn't the same size as the original. The original is 313Kb and the new one is 137Kb. Of course if you open up any maps in game with the new multimap.rle, UO crashes. Since the tool has worked for others, I am guessing here that the problem is with the .bmp file created from the tool. Perhaps a step needs to be done to the .bmp file to make it compatible with the tool? Suggestions? Thanks TomC |
