, ok im having problems in more ways than just installing - RunUO

i downloaded beta, then found out 1.0 is the one i want, so i downloaded it. i have it running. i have my own shard that i can customize whatever i want using pandorahs box. i cant get my husband into the shard, or figure out how to get him an account set up. ive read the forums where ppl wanted their friend to join them, but, when the ppl help them its like greek or something....
I know computers more than the average joe (not the joe who does script, & subscribes to this forum) but, i dont know what theyre tlking about changing to allow other players to get into your shard....
also, i have a hue modifyer that ive been having the most fun with, & saving .mul files.......id like to know how to use these files in my shard.......also id like to know how to get all the script files ive downloaded & put in my beta scripts files used in my shard...... example: i downloaded & used a universal dye tub in beta, before i was told to get 1.0. it worked great, redid it when i got 1.0.....in the game, my changes r not showing up.....i should have uni dye tubs, colored logs, & ingots, rare eles, & dark unicorns men can ride.......but nothing is in game, its as if beta uses it, but beta isnt used.........im so confused.

um.....router, & its set to game at my ip......i disabled the firewall. not sure what to set the ip to in the serverlist.cs......went to noip.com downloaded, but am having trouble, running the program.....its been "checking" remote ip address for 33 mins now.

I would think the easiest way to allow other onto your shard would be to get on UOGateway. Use No-IP (forget the name of the program) if need be, but when I set up, that is how I did it. They can connect directly to your computer, but I believe that is done through changing the file in your UO directory that gives the server's IP (forget the file off-hand). That was one way to do it, but make sure you back it up or remember the IP if you do change. Easiest way is to just use UOGateway though, esp if you are planning on making it public anyway. Just turn Auto-Account off so only those you want in right now can get on.

I have to re-load noip on my comp as I just formatted everything. I have remade my server so many times it is not even funny. I guess let me start from scratch since I am not entirly sure what the problem is. It sounds like you are having problems connecting others? And you have No-IP loaded but that is not working correct?

Also, a few stupid questions first. Do you have an account with No-IP? UOGateWay? You will need to have them to be able to use it. As far as No-IP is concerned, I believe (I am waiting to set it back up myself) you have to create a name for it. The program runs in your systray, and will auto-update in event of an IP change. Log onto noip.com using your ID (assuming that you have), ADD a server name on the left side, because you need to make a host. Mine is beyondreality.no-ip.com, so it will be something like that. After you log on and load the program it will use your eMail to update itself (I believe, never really looked into it). Load up No-IP and make sure your server is checked, and that should be all for that. Ifs your server listed on UOGateWay? If not, you may have to wait for that to be able to log on that way.

yes i have accounts with gateway & no ip.....i just finished setting no ip up, my firewall was the problem.......now the front end server is having an error message. it says "The connection with the server was closed unexpectedly. would you like to retry the connection?" when you click retry, it comes back with the same thing...............just a sec...........

Are you using XP? And what FireWall are you using? You can have a few problems when you have XP's firewall as well as another (ZoneAlarm, Norton, etc). Did you allow the program access to the internet through the firewall? If you are using No-IP, then it should jsut be a matter of granting that program to act as a server over the net (I believe that No-IP would be the prog acting as the server being that is what is acting as an external "router" of sorts). Are you getting any error msg's when loading up the server? Or is it just connection problems?

ok, changed the serverlist.cs file to my no ip address, changed it on gateway, & on everything else i can think of......went thru my firewall allowing anything i recognise....so, i dont know what else to do.....im getting another error message now " A connection to the server could not be established. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. Would you like to retry the connection?" then you retry, wait a minute, & it comes back with the same thing.

yes, im using xp.......but the firewall is completely disabled.......im using the firewall that came with my roadrunner programming, the stuff ive been doing is enabled thru it.

Okay, try a few stupid things then.
You are using No-IP, when you open the program and the list, is your server name on there?
Is the box next to your server checked?
Is there a smile face (blushing smile or big smile (shows you are connected through that)?
Did you add the web addy to UOGateway?

great, now even i cant connect to my shard......weird thing though when i boot the server, it has my actual ip address not the no ip that i inserted in the serverlist script, so i dont know where its getting its info, but i gotta go do some laundry, & dishes.......afk, for a little while..............

Did you change the anything (other then your server name) in ServerList.cs by chance? Did you make the nec. adjustments in No-IP's options for the router support? I can not tell you exactly what to put there since I am not using a router, but would try that first. Also, if you look at the ServerList.cs file, it has a memo for routers in it.

ok, i reloaded the server this morning, & i didnt have any errors......but the start runuo server (the dos looking screen) dosent show my no-ip address, it shows my actual ip address, & the 127.0.0.1 address........how do i change that.......i already changed the serverlist.cs file......

Your actual IP address is what it will always show. If you are still haveing trouble with people connecting make sure you forwarded the port you are useing for RunUO. Also you don't really need a no-ip addy unless your IP# changes when you reboot or reconnect.

well, i have a dynamic ip & was told no-ip makes things easier in the long run.....
i cant even get into my shard right now, & dont know why......furthermore i just want to get into it, get my husband into it, get the scripts into it, that ive already put into the script file, get my custom hues recognised, & save the mods ive done to my shard, i dont really see that happening........ive had so much trouble at this point im thinking about uninstalling, then deleting the runuo beta & runuo files & starting all over...........only skipping the whole beta crap............any thoughts on that?????

i have a feeling the front end has to work right? it never has.....it complains about ports, & if not about ports, it complains about something else. it took me forever seemingly to get into my shard, then as soon as i did, i cant get everything working right..........pain in the butt...........now i can understand why some admin r grumpy.....

ok, now i can get into my shard......i had to change the ip address back to my actual ip address on gateway.......i changed an account file to max accounts per ip to 2.
i need to know how to allow my husband to get an account made??? & how to get him into the shard......i feel like im missing something............but i gotta go for a while..........
