Default I got a virus from somewhere

Recently I downloaded runuo and ever since I got it, my computer has random restarts. No error message, my RAM usage isn't even close to 100%, I don't know whats causing it and I think I got a virus along with RUNUO, if I didn't what 's doing this to my computer? I'm positive it has something to do with RUNUO.

Thanks.

It probably was not runuo unless you got it from a different site.

Run a virus scanner. Search for trojans using something like adaware or spybot search and destroy and get rid of whatever you have.

Lmao.. well to be to the point.

RUNUO DID NOT GIVE YOU VIRII.

Try this...

Right Click "My Computer" and click Properties.
Click the "Advanced" tab on the window that pops up.
Look down at "Startup and Recovery" and click "Settings".
In the "System Failure" section, uncheck "Automatically Restart" if it is checked, then restart your PC.

If the problem is at the kernel level, it usually automatically restarts and you dont see any errors pop up. At least if this is your problem, a blue screen will pop up, showing you any problems that cause the failure. Write down the error description + code, and google it up to find a fix. I'm about 90% certain this is what your problem is.

Also, make sure you have the latest .NET version 1.1 redistributable (available from Microsoft.com), and all critical updates are installed on your system from Windows Update.

how are you sure its not liking net 1.1? i have ran net 1.1 on many systems and never had this problem the only time i had random restarts is when my pc wasnt updated and was unstable and if he says he formated and its still going slow it could be bad hardware but i doubt its net 1.1 maybe a bad ramstick or cpu

My first guess is memory. I once had a machine that did a similar, well ok identical thing, It turned out to be a bad block of memory on one stick, Run UO uses a large ammount of memory, and Until I started the server that Block was not accessed. But as soon as I Started the Server The memory usage would climb and at a certain point the machine would fail and restart. Fortunately I am a PC Technician and had the luxury of several spare sticks of memory laying arround inorder to test this. I have also seen this occur when a bad or non XP compliant driver is installed. Are all of your drivers XP Approved. Just some thoughts. I would have to agree that If you downloaded the installation file from www.runuo.com there is no way that a you got it from RunUO. The RunUO team can not however control mirror sites, this is why they have written into their terms of service that no one shall redistribute the file. If you found the file on any site other than RunUO I would personaly report it to Ryan, Zippy, or Krrios. While I am not sure what they can do about it other than track down the person who downloaded and revoke their rights to further downloads. I wish you luck in your search for your problem, but I assure you you will find little support by attacking the RunUO community. They have for 2 years provided quality software to the public with not one mar on their record. No you will find little sympathy by attacking RunUO on this forum.

Bad memory 9 times out of 10 will trigger the blue screen that I showed him how to enable without the system automatically restarting. Memory faults/IRQ conflicts are the most common symptoms of automatic restarting/blue screens.

That's actually a very broad statement nowadays, since in essence everyone from the average guy with an A+, to the guy with the MCSA/MCSE/MCP are all considered "PC Technicians".

LoL...PC Techs are the guys that sit in front of response screens and do phone support. Tha tis pretty much with an A+ will get you. I have A+, Net +, CNA, CCNA & MCSE; but you also have ot know all the systems and how to get your way around. If you want to make money on it, I would go into programming. OR sales. I did some pretty good work with some big companies, and made good money, but the sales people made twice what I did. If you had the hardware knowledge & the sales, then would be all the better..

I got my error message.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

This means I don't have enough R.A.M? It also talked about faulty drivers may be causing it. Like that one guy said, it causes the computer to work at such a high level that it uses the faulty driver...re-starts. Something like that I'm horrible with computers. Any way to find out which driver it could be?

Not true.

Everything that is deleted or formatted from your computer is put in EXTREMLY encrypted archives that can be restored with proper programs.

Ive formatted my hard drive and gotten everything back from it.

And virii can get into sector 0 of your hard drive and stay there forever.

Not if you use a good anti-virus application.

having worked on pc's for almost 45 years now, and having A+, Net+, Security+, iNet+, MCSE, MCSD (Cpp), CCIE, CISSP, and MCT, and 2 phD's in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, i am certain its some sort of electromechanical error. The best bet is to cut the black wires off of your power cable to the motherboard and restart the pc. the pc will boot into a non grounded state which will tell exactly when and why the problems are occuring.
