As far as I can tell, the decay script is in the core and cannot be altered. Ofcourse, a secondary timer/loop construction can be made to do the job, but I just thought it should be in the core decay system.
Note: That I'm aware of the static DefaultDecayTime property and that various items override it/use their own decaytimer. Just to make sure I don't get replies like these
