i was thinking of making a new map for my shard with dragon, i have a small question about how new maps are registered with runuo, in mapdefinitions.cs it says the fileindex and map id have to be from 0-3 wich are already used and i think would just create more facets. i guess my question is can i register totally new maps without editing the existing ones? thanks

Since UO is a Client/Server application, you would have to update both your server and all your clients.
Well, there's no problem to do so on the server, but as long as you're using the OSI gameclient, you won't be able to add a completly new facet without overwriting another. (well, in fact there are tricks even with that one, but not really recommendable ones like creating a bloated dif file) But hell, 4 possible facets should really last out to about 99% of all freeshards. |

check out pandora's box. I'll warn you though, your in for one long climb up a steep learning curve.
and yes, removing a map from the server itself would either be tons of completely unnessecary work (combing through all the core files, all the script files, recompiling the core, and praying that it works). simply ensuring that any facet that your not going to use is whiped, then preventing access to them works great. absolutely no performance difference between the two methods. |

You would replace the Tokuno map if you patch the Tokuno map file...So why would you do this? You cannot add new maps, as in map files, the client doesn't have support for this. There is no physical limitation on RunUO. |
