UO Versione Question - RunUO

Does RunUO require the newest and patched uo version or is there a way to run an old instance like UO:Third Dawn with RunUO?

I have found you need like 4.0.1 or above to connect, the number isnt right but i do know you need a fairly new version of the client to connect
