Default Need a hand with ban of ip range

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to ban an ip range for somone who keeps changing his ip? His first numbers are always the same i thought i would try and ban the range using all possibilities with those numbers??? Could i simply put in my firewall.cs 69.111.111.000 - 69.111.111.999
or maybe just 69.111.xxx.xxx where it will firewall all with that range

If their on dial up its near impossible to do...Because ip's change..If you ban the range of that ip, you'll be stopping others with close to that number from connecting to your shard...You can also, pull his/her character someplace and when he tries to log on he won't be able to...It'll say there is already a character in the world logged on...He'll get tired and give up..

Well the thing is they bann/firewall and he keeps returning with new ip. I am aware of the fact that a lot would miss out do to the range but may need to be done for a small period of time. Can somone actually cause any harm in any way to thier shard? Or are these threats able to be taken to thier isp provider?

69.111.*.*

or

69.111.111.*

Whichever you really are wanting.

I use this on a few different ranges.

The only way anyone can hurt your shard is if you give them power there..Such as GM, Seer, Admin, ....All this guy is doing with his ip is restarting his pc and is on dial up...With dial up and a restart its a different ip...Hard to stop them, thats why I mentioned pull his char and he can't log on ....Most that threaten on a shard is all talk, they can't really do anything....Exactly what are the threats? My guess is that hes all talk, most are...

You can ban and firewall the range tho for awhile if it makes you feel better...Because when he restarts with a different ip it will still be in that range... You can stop him for sure this way..

Most users have a fixed class A or class B mask when they redial to get a new IP. This will remain constant unless they will move to another area or switch the ISP.

Well, if the person is a hacker they could really screw some stuff up, regardless if they are staff on the server. Or they could get the account info of a staffmember.
But it sounds like to me this is just a little kid that thinks it is funny that he cannot be banned unless the server owner bans a range of IPs. It makes him feel special I guess.

Yes this is what i been trying to point out the first 2 group of numbers will always be constant in his ip. I can ban that area but that is a bunch of numbers to write by hand lol. Was hoping to ban range. If they are educated enough they can ruin her server.

Unless it hurts others playing on the shard, i see no problem. You could just firewall the IP range from within RunUO.

Did you miss my post. I gave you 2 examples of how to do a range. In admin gump, hit firewall, type in 69.111.*.* and hit add. That will block 69.111.0.0 - 69.111.254.254.

That is how you do it. You do not have to input all the IP's in a range.
