Default Recommended UO Expansion

What expansion of UO is RunUO 2.0 built around, or what is the recommended expansion to use with 2.0?

I believe it is recommended to have a patched client up to the latest from UO itself. Many things will not work with older clients even on 1.0.

it doesn't matter. what matters is the patches from UO itself.

Doesn't Mondain's legacy have different art, maps etc than samurai empire? Are there features you can access with one client that you cannot with another?

All of that is accessed by the client. And yes, older clients cannot see much of what exists on a shard, thus wanting the newest patches from UO.

i suggest for the server you use ML over SE, just so you can access all of the items yourself also

many of the crafts, loots, etc have it based that if SE or If ML (which includes SE) then you can make, recieve, see, etc

The server doesn't use any of that. The client does. If you patch your client, you have it all.

like i said - so you can see all of the items yourself - if you are running SE on your system & server - then others can see the ML items if they are patched up but you can not, because you are SE, even though patched up, you would not be able to make and or sometimes wear the items

The major point is that the client and server are two completely separate entities. In order to run a server, all you need is RunUO, no UO installation need be on that machine.

Keep in mind that you need several files that comes with the client that you want to use.

Which files that come with the client are required or even handy ON the server machine? I went through all this with Phantom once on upgrading our server to ML, and as near as I can tell, there are no files that UO has that are accessed from the server machine. Maybe 2.0 is different, I haven't used that.

Take a look at DataPath.cs.

Thanks for the help guys. I have decided to just "obtain" ML.

I have a few more questions, but I will make a new post for those that I cannot answer after I search the forums.

Thanks again

Good point, Daat, but our shard server is still running on something pre-SE and all our players can see what they need to see due to the scripts in the server. Where am I going wrong here?
