Default Strange lag?

Okay, so I run on DSL via a Netgear wireless router, I think it is...
And when I'm mounted on a horse, I can hit top speed with no lag problems whatsoever (aside from normal server lag)

Yet, every--let's say--two minutes or so, I freeze up for 10 or more seconds, before the lag evaporates and I'm back at top speed.

Any idea why this is? could there be some firewall settings or something that can help this? As far as I know, I don't run behind a firewall, but when I played WoW and had to download patches, there was a mild problem that said I WAS behind a firewall. The downloads always worked, just took a little longer.

So yeah... and advice would be helpful.

Thanks.

what is your memory at?

if it starts to get to low - it could be going to virtual memory, using the hard drive

see if the HD light flickers when this lag happens

Hmm...it doesn't seem to be my computer's processes that are running slow. It's just as if a lag spike kicks in...as if my internet connection freezes for a moment before sending more information, but I don't think this is exactly the case. I have a lot of memory and I play WoW and I rarely get this kind of lag spike. It's like an interuption of packets being sent and received... I don't know.

Now I'm entirely lost.

laptop? wireless routers seem to make the player lag. I had a wireless router and my husband could not play at all because of the lag but we got a wired one, no prob. He played other games on it just fine.

I've encountered this problem myself.

I've been playing UO, on freeshards, on my laptop since I bought it in 2003. Then I was near enough to my router to get a cable into the system, and therefore had no lag issues.

I've since moved house, and upgraded my ADSL connection to MAX, which runs around 5-6Meg. Due to the move, I'm now not able to use a cable, since I'm upstairs... instead I use 54meg Wireless, which runs with an excellent signal. I can play WoW, CS:S and the like without any lag problems, no stuttering or stuff like that.

UO However doesn't. I get stuttering every few minutes, normally when I'm in war mode. it's done it on 2 shards, one being UOgamers:Hybrid and the other being Demise.

I'm going to obtain a OSI 14 day trial, to see if it happens the same there...

However this looks to be a problem with the way the UO Client sends and receives data. would someone with knowelge of the protocols and Wireless be able to comment on this theory?

perhaps something can be done in razor to prevent this lag?
