Default Character Transfer

NO this isnt a request
YES I have searched alot

Has anyone ever come up with a way to transfer a character from a backup/copy of your shard to the live shard?

In other words, you have a backup of your shard from a week ago but since then the character has been deleted. Is there a way to transfer it back to your current shard? Character and/or whole account

Thanks

can do the account but not the characters
account info is stored in "text" format and can be copied and pasted
all other info (charactters, items, etc etc) are stored in binary data and can notbe retrieved

the only way to bring them back is a time warp back to that save - then everybody is also then time warped

can do it manualy - start up the old save, find character, mark everything down
restart shard with current save - have them "make" the characters then fix him up using info you wrote down about them

UUURRRGH yeah thats what ive been doing but I HATE manually recreating everything like that.

I dont really know what a character consists of, more than just a few files obviously. Shame I have regular need for this, thanks

I'm sure there's a way. You'd basically need to read in the data from the old file and save it to the new file. I don't know how to do it but I bet a more experienced programmer could do it.
