Okay i know theres some info around about port forwarding ect. But, doesnt seem to be for the router and modem i have. I have a Belkin F5D7231-4 router and a actiontec modem with qwest dsl. I can't seem to get port forwarding down right everytime I try anything I lose my internet connection.

Port Forwarding for the Belkin F5D7231-4
That link should show you where the settings are on your router... the numbers you use will be different than what they use, but its the general concept and location is what I think your looking for. Also be sure you dont have a firewall on your pc itself thats blocking those ports. Hope this helps

Some DSL modems have built in routers. If that is the case then you will need to forward 2593 from your modem to your routers WAN IP address. This scenario is called double NAT and is a pain in the ass.

Go into your routers status page and look for something that says WAN IP or Public IP Address (varies by manufacturer). If that number starts with 192.168, you are probably double NAT'd.

I think were gonna need a little more info here...
1. Are you currently using both the modem and the router or just the modem? 2. What model# is the modem? 3. If you are using both, do you really need both? in other words are you planning on using more than one pc at the moment. If you have or plan to use multiple pc's, then you will need to use both unless by some stroke of luck your modem has multiple ports (Personally, Ive only seen that with fios but its possible I would think). Get that info for us and we can most likely help you out a little more.
