Exclamation Vista Server

For a number of weeks now i have been scanning the forums hoping someone will put a runUO shard on for vista,

I have been having problems connecting to my own shard using vista, i have made shards with edits i have seen about but still having trouble. I am currently running the shard on a spare XP computer i have but cannot connect using my vista machine can anyone possibly help me with this error.

Details:

Client: ::ffff:192.168.2.9: Connected. [1 Online]
Login: ::ffff:192.168.2.9: Valid credentials for 'Lone'
Client: ::ffff:192.168.2.9: Disconnected. [0 Online] [Lone]

It then sits on that and i do not connect while my UO window goes on to say
"The client could not attach to the game server. It must have been taken down. please wait a few minutes and try again."

The two images attached are the RunUO shard and my Client window, may provide more help than me describing

I do not know about the xp problem but the vista one is the same one I am having. There is supposed to be a way to fix it if you recompile the core files into a new exe. You need to edit the listener.cs file before compiling it though. There are other threads with answers to this. It seems to stem from the fact vista is not meant to be a server os and so it has issues with runuo shards... Also seems to have problem (at least on vista basic, my system) with connecting to free shards (I cannot get it to run on other free shards other than my own).

Well i know that all Vista machines have the problem, they cant connect to any server without the Vista edits.

I have used the compiled exe. Ive tried the most recent SVN and all other SVN's i can find but i still get that error which is why i need help. I need to find someone with an SVN that works or someone that will nicely send me the Vista Editted Server that works.

I have a vista and only way I can connect is through uo gateway and making a private shard using whatever name you want and using my local number 192.168 etc,,, I can connect that way and any patches I make I added it using the settings tab. And it works just fine for me.

Default Here is the answer

Okay guys HEre it goes Get your pens and papers ready....

First things first.
1.Download mrfixit
2.Put the file from Mrfixit in the runuo/scripts/misc folder (replace it with the old serverlist.cs)
4.go to the serverlist.cs edit where it says:

// YOUR INTERNET IP OR DNS NAME
// Here you can select to autodetect your internet ip, or manualy specify
// Examples:
// public static string Address = "99.238.57.47";
// public static string Address = "shard.host.com";
//

Where it says the ip address fill yours in....... Also make sure the listner port in the serverlist.cs is correct .... for instance I live in canada and i use rogers so they wont let me use 2593 so I have to use 25593

ok
5.save the file exit that ... now in windows xp this is diffrent so find out the diffrence (for this following example) Go to start/control panel/Windows firewall/ Click on the exceptions tab then make sure Runuo is checked or Ultima online...or anything to do with ultima just so you don't make mistakes. Now highlight Runuo thing or wtvr you chose in the "exceptions" tab and click on Port and add your port there.... and walla it will work!!!!

Hey try it out and let me know.. Happy Hanukah

I have tried this,
the server works for an XP computer connecting to it, and other people from the outside (using XP) connecting. Its only when i load it on Vista it has problems, all scripts have been edited and work correctly its just when someone tries to connect through Vista.

The problem is with the Core. Not liking Vista.

Yes. There is an edit so you can run it on vista... But I cannot connect to other free shards or my own being on vista. It sucks. I recommend no one buys vista on their pcs (if it comes with vista premium or higher you can downgrade to xp pro for free).

What is Malganis ML? You mean the client type/version or what? I am not familiar with that name is all... And would you happen to have a Runuo 2.0 RC1 exe with the vista fix you could post?

Default What version of Vista are you using?

I am running the Server on Vista without additional modifications to run it on Vista. Iniatially I had increased RunUO server Core not responding errors (horrible Window errors that would not reset themselves). But found those to actually be errors in some of the custom scripts.

I'm using Vista Ultima, which is more for business applications. From what I've read Vista Home doesn't have all that is needed for Servers?

The problem is with Vista basic through vista home premium being home based and not able to handle server functions... Most of the problem stems from not being able to handle the connections and what not (or so I have heard).

It seems that some people can get Vista working fine, some cant.

i know someone with Vista Ultimate who tried to run it but failed even without custom scripts so its just the luck of the draw.

Thank you for the the files. will try them out later

Edited:

Just tried out the server, but i cant get either of them to work... both get the same error with the socketoption script.
any possibility you could send me the socketoption script cause mine might be incorrect

Ok you will need the SocketOptions Script to be replace with mines and also you need to replace your ServerList with mines i posted it with the Server Exe. On top.

Just did a test on a new svn 269 with no modifications on core and turn on server logged on and it doesnt crash no more with Windows Vista.
So it looks like they fixed this cause now if you just do the regular svn 269 without any modification on core it will work on Windows Vista.

I still find i have a lot of errors. I must be doing something wrong if you don't get any

I tried the EXE's you sent me with the socket and serverlist scripts in place and i just got the original error. I really don't understand how people are getting this to work but i cant.

I take it you have to use the data and scripts that come with SVN 269...?

I didn't realize that updating from RunUO 2.0 RC1 to this would be so much trouble

All the scripts and Data from SVN are scripted different with fixes. Cause RunUO 2.0 RC1 has lots of bugs so that is why it wont work cause of the scripts .

The thing is, i have tried using the SVN, with the scripts and data it gives you. but i still cant seem to ever log in. I don't really understand why.

the shard works fine on my XP machine but i just cant connect with vista, it seems like the edits are doing anything to help connect with vista.

I have tried re-downloading the SVN many times and recompiling etc etc. but still no luck.

I hate to bring Vista back up, but im continuing to have problems as well. Im using svn 269, and its giving me a TON of script definition errors... it wont even let the server start up. Am i supposed to take the script and data folders from svn and drop them in runuo folder right?

Yeah, your meant to drop them in your runUO folder...
your probably having the problem i do

I compile the server and use them, but still manage to get alot of script errors.

I think its kinda pointless on trying to fix it cause i have tried with everything people have given me servers which work on Vista but for some reason they dont for my machine =/

Ok i got it to work lone123. BUT i got it to work with a base server, no custom scripts that you might have. Forget about 2.0 RC1. get the svn put it a folder, delete the server folder, download the svn269 vista and serverlist and server socket .rar's in erica's post put the three files where they go and wala! its working! My aim is hungry4knowhow if you need some help

+1 rep for you Erica thank you so much

I use 6.0.0 or 6.0.3, i havent gotten 6.0.5 to work with svn 269. but that may be another vista problem.
