Ok Ive read this post enough...had to jump on the band wagon here. Chicken in a Bisket are one of the four food groups arent they? I see em in my food pyramid with Dew on top...maybe. Im rather indesisive about my soda, or is it pop for some of you?

I'd consider it a valuable part of the food pyramid...and Dew thing to drink outside of sweetened iced tea....

Now onto your question of proper naming....

Since I've lived on both costs and all over the Eastern Seaboard not to mention the Midwest I've found it's much simpler to name what ever my beverage of choice is by brand.....Coca-Cola, Mt. Dew, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper....and so on it aviods confusion while traveling.

Yeah think I may use that. We've lived in Maryland and Wisconsin with a large number of family members in Minnesota and Michigan. Here in Wisconsin we call it soda, but when I went to Minnesota and asked for a soda I got what we call a float. (Soda with ice cream) *shakes head* Visited Texas and Dads family in Cali, asked for a soda and they couldnt understand till I said Coke, or Mountain Dew...which by the way everythin in Texas...atleast where we drove through was called a Coke.

Ok so this brings me to some trivia, ever heard of a bubbler? Its a slang well known here in Wisconsin. Well atleast everywhere in Wisconsin Ive been, which is damn near everywhere.
