As for Tibet, well Chinese people mostly think that the western media is just trying to make China look bad. Which it is. Most of the harm done to Tibet was done by other countries than China. Tibet has also been part of China for a longer time than the US has been in existence.
The tibet wikipedia page has lots of interesting information.
China did kill a few hundred thousands, but the British killed way more.
Take conflicts with the natives in the US. If you're against them being separated from the US than asking for Tibet to be separated from China is retarded.

Anyways, chinese people themselves are more concerned with the Olympics.
I personally hope the Olympics will fail, because China is being retarded on how its preparing for the Olympics.

Its not that bad. I've had chinese people tell me "One thing I dislike about China is that we don't have freedom of speech". Which is quite funny really, true they cannot say so on TV or in front of a large public, but its not like they are shot for expressing their opinion to another person (well in the last 10 years that is. 20 years ago was a different story).

In one of the bands I was in, we'd tour using an 2nd hand schoolbus to cart gear and members. We got to Newfoundland and these moose would come right up beside us and start running beside the bus on the shoulder of the road and their asses were as high as the passenger windows...FOT in 4th gear.
