Its Rawdens thread challenging us to "ask him anything, and he will answer it"
As far as bumping 11-10-2006, 02:35 PM - snoop command 11-10-2006, 05:04 PM 11-10-2006, 09:17 PM - tested new routines 11-12-2006, 11:30 AM The thread isnt dead, and Im not just "waiting" like most do, I keep testing and if the problem Im having isnt related to distance, then I might actually open up a bug report.

Oh... sorry. I must have missed the part where Jarrod is allowed to bump posts while everyone else must wait or they are breaking the rules and get their posts deleted, threads locked or banned.
But, I miss a lot of things. |

Ok... Here's a question...
Why is it that person A posts a link to some relatively innocent legal software and is banned while person B posts a link to XXX porn and the only thing that happens is the link is deleted? Why is it that noob morons that are either too lazy to read the rules or too lazy to search for something get banned for bumping their posts repeatedly, and a vet says directly that "The thread isnt dead, and Im not just "waiting" like most do", of which, waiting is the rules, but noone bats an eyelash for bumped posts? The only reason I use Jarrod is that the example is current. I don't know Jarrod and have nothing against him at all. It just really drives me nuts when people try to follow the rules, but it's pretty hard when they change constantly, or at least the enforcement of them does. I'm not whining about the Mods. I do know that each person interprets "violations" differently and I don't personally think that any of the issues with banning are personal. I just want to know where the hell the line is that needs to be crossed before a ban happens. |

I think the traditional "bump" that you are referring to are the ones that can be found in the "I aer need helps pls" posts that contain a question that no one understands, and then is followed by a series of *bump*, plshelpme?, and so on.
Posting another method in the attempt to solve the problem not only for myself, but for others who may experience the same problem should be fine, although the post from 11-10-2006, 05:04 PM does in fact qualify as a bump. And for my "less than 10 minute question" to Rawden: If a man says something in the forest, and there are no women around to hear him... is he still wrong? ![]()

My feeling is this: the banning on the forums is both too frequent, and not particularly good for the community. I don't recall particularly agreeing with most of the bans that have occurred around here.
Kicking someone out of a community that they have gone to the effort to make a home in is demeaning to them personally. If people are going to get a suspense every once in when, it should be handled with delicacy. Failing that, the offended parties might very well move on. Or go silent, and stop contributing stuff. As a regular, I've had a message or two edited. While I didn't happen to agree with those, either, I think that's a good way of dealing with site moderation, because it sends a message: post this kind of content, and you're wasting your keystrokes; don't bother, because it will go missing. All this said, moderating game community boards is an sob. Nothing quite like having to moderate a mix of preteens and adults both: you're never quite sure how to treat the person on the other end. Courageous, if you post in this thread and you don't add a question at the end, you might drown in a lake =\. |
