The Haldron Super Collider goes online in August of this year, anything thats going to happen with it will happen this year.

The Mayans predicted that it would be the "End of the World as We Know It" that could mean anything.

Sun Storms...could you maybe post a link of where your getting your info, everything Ive read says the exact opposite (they are expecting huge storms but they havent happened).

I'd like to know where the Mayans "predicted" that the world would end in 2012. Only thing I've ever seen on this is simply that as far as we can TRANSLATE their CALENDAR ends then. A calendar that was made out of stone by a culture that pretty much no longer exists. We dont even know if we are reading it right. Hell.. it COULD be a cookbook for all we really know. My calendar ends every year. Does that mean the world ends every year as well?

Your right, it's merely the end of their calendar. Many believe that it would merely be the end of the age, not the end of the world.

The King James version of the bible also fucks up too many translations. It throws in the end of the world in a few of those translations which is the reason many bible thumpers believe the end is coming soon - when the correct translation is the "end of the age".

People look up info... there is actually a reason why they say the world will end.
Will it end, not likely but what will happen is this:

The Scared Tree is in essence where they believe life started. The last time this happened was some odd 28,000 years ago. Also they believed that there were other worlds before this one, there is no real last calender of the Mayans, merely last known. Considering how much was destroyed by the Spanish Christians it is hard to say.

Now practically, these calenders were made in a pre-Columbian time, 2012 was a long time away from then. Maybe they just didn't get around to publishing/making calenders for the rest of time! They had a life to live after all!

So yeah they have some foot hold into real events that are really astounding. However lets not take this truth of the galaxy and turn it into an Apocalypse.
