The more tools we have like this, the better.
ESPECIALLY if it supports the DIFF formats as well. There are currently VERY few tools that support map and static DIFF files, and the ones that are out there have some issues that make them unuseful. If we had tools that supported the DIFF files, the result would be smaller patch files for shards and the ability to make Trammel and Felucca two entirely different maps. |

Dougan,
A handy addition to this would be an option to compare 2 map files and to save the differences to the DIFF files - or to take the changes in the DIFF files and freeze them to the map and static files. Have it handle both maps and statics seperately via seperate buttons. There are some other tools out there that do this but they are somewhat buggy and unreliable. |

acctually i have a question that borders these line...
im sick of the same old UO map and im looking to create a new one... but i dont know the first thing about it. for example: where do i start? my first thought was taking my z axis into the negatives and creating my map underneath the normal uo map.. but i think that would be totally improper, i need to figure out how to get to a NEW Facate can anyone help? |

I personally think Dragon and Worldforge are weak excuses for editors.
What I'd really like to see is a *fast* map editor capable of editing over a 50x50 grid at various zoom levels, with a preview panel so you can see what your terrain height/tile editing looks like without having to save/start server/start client, etc. I was thinking of putting a project like this together myself, but I severely lack the programming knowledge to do so. Features would include multi vertex selection & alignment, various brushes ala worldcraft, auto transitioning ala dragon, Z randomization between 2 values (field of grass or mountains), drag up/down to change the Z of selected vertices. Anyway... Yeah. I don't want much, right? So, yeah. Please share, if it's superior to Worldforge or Dragon. I'm all ears. =) |
