A question, and maybe I'm just doing something wrong here...
Can UO Gateway patch with local files when you set up a local server? I've tried telling it where the files are on the other machine, tried putting them into a rar file, sharing the drive, copying them to the local machine, etc. etc. etc... No luck... I play on a few other shards, so I don't want to kill off my maps, statics, staidx, difs, etc. Anyone have any clue? TIA, Kendrel |

A little more specific...
I have RunUO running on a different system than the one I would play on, and it works great with the new files replacing the old ones for the new map I've made, and new statics and staidx. What I was looking for was an easier way to swap the files around other than building batch files to do it. UO Gateway seems capable of doing this just fine when you log into a shard. What I wanted to do was to pull the files from my server by putting a copy of them in a shared folder and trying to get UOG to grab them either by getting them from the share or mapping a drive to the share... But I haven't had any luck at all with this... Put a file URL in there and it seems to work, but then when you log in, it just has the normal UO map sitting there... |

Umm, ok, Phantom... NEXT?
No seriously, read your post and tell me exactly what it says, and how you told me what to do? So, I go where in the UOGateway program and tell it what to do? Where to get the files right? Hrmmm... I also said they were on a different system within my own LAN, which I have mapped a drive to, which should make it easier correct? So, instead of putting a URL there, and I'm still under the impression I would need to RAR them, which is what UOG is looking for... But of course you said all of this right? Let's review your post where you said "EVERYTHING" Quote:
And great, I already gave the correct locations on my hard drive, as well as treid it from the servers mapped drive, etc. Can't get it to work locally, but I can log on to any shard that's using a custom map and it pulls the files in and uses them without a problem, whether it's Verdata, Maps, Statics, whatever... So, the question, ONE MORE TIME... HOW DO I GET UOGATEWAY TO DO THIS LOCALLY??? It doesn't seem to take local addressing properly. |

I think this is what you are talking about. Hope it helps!
In UOG, create a custom shard with 127.0.0.1 as an IP. Don't put any patch file paths in it. After running the custom connect once, go to \Ultima Online\UOG\xx (Where xx is the newest created folder) Copy your custom files in there. ***Note*** You will need to rename them into the UOG naming convention, which can be found in Mr Fixit's FAQ. Example: map0.mul is m0 |

Vixen, you rock! It worked PERFECTLY!
Phoenix, I tried RARing the files. I ran an active server for 6 months before I gave it away to a friend who was more interested in it... But I never bothered with downloading the files locally using UOGateway. I had them online, and could grab them without a problem from my own web page... For some reason, local files can't be used by UOGateway to run with. Don't know why, and it's kind of odd that it won't work, but it's working just fine with Vixens solution now. I think I'll try to get Mr Fixit to fit it though ![]() %δΟ<YD Thanks again! |
