I'm pissed off with ShaperDevelop. After .97, I just got sick of it, using Antechinus now. Not as colorful. But it doesn't crash, or LAG ( wtf...lag in an editor...yeah I typed whole sentences and have to wait for it to catch up ) and i can tile the windows horizantily n stuff to view 2 or files at the same time.
SharpDevelop peeps told me that they removed it for stability and wouldn't likely be back any time so...pff to them! |

Interesting, I've never had any lag with SharpDevelop...
I've got a killer computer though, maybe it's just eliminating what lag there is? Making the code completion using the "slow" process does take a while for me too though... Downloading "Antechinus" now... will post my opinion when I'm sober tommorrow If I remember before I start drinking... LOL!

How is SharpDevelop of late? Last time I used it, it was buggy as hell and slow. Not that I'd trade VS.Net for it, but I'm curious about its progress.

Still slow to load (on this machine), but otherwise not too bad. If it loaded as fast as notepad, I'd probably use it exclusively ;->

I have #Develop and at first I thought it was great. I could edit my code like I did with Visual C++, and it was free. Then it became laggy and an absolute chore to use.
I am running an 800 MHz Sony Viao with 256mb ram and Windows 2000 Pro with all the updates. I also have a program called Cacheman that displays my free ram. Normally the system has around 138mb free when nothing else is running. When #Develop starts running, it goes down to about the 70s, and KEEPS GOING LOWER. This program hogs ram and does not release it. I have cancelled it when it left me 3.5mb of ram. Many times I made Cacheman release ram back in the 70s to 90s range, just to have #Develop eat it down to the single digits WITHIN 1 TO 2 MINUTES. AND this is with #Develop idling, no files or projects/combines open. I also usually have Windows Explorer, Ultra Compare, Windows Explorer Search, and one copy of WordPad (my error text file) open. One VERY temporary solution is to defrag the drive #Develop is on, but that only lasts an hour or so before the lag and memory loss are terrible. Needless to say, I am back to editing files in WordPad. |

I get some bad lag the first 2 minutes after loading the IDE. After that I am fine.
