Default UOGateway problem..

I would post this on the UOG forum but...my e-mail seems to be banned!

Anyways. Everytime I start up UO from UOG, and it doesn't matter what shard I try to log onto, it always lets me connect, then select the shard, but after that it just stops doing anything. This doesn't occur at random, it happens everytime I attempt to login via UOG. The second time I open UO from UOG the client works fine and i connect and get on whatever char and what not. (except for when Razor decides to not work in some way )

Really annoying problem, anyone know how to fix it?

Judging by your description it has to do with which client version you're using and what version of runUO the server is using. Since the latest client 4.0.1a changed the hardware packet some servers have update the packet handler some haven't. That's why you get in after you restart the client.

Ah, well...if you had said 1.7 I would have suggested upgrading. My neighbor had similar problems and upgraded and it started working again. So, Im clean out of ideas, sorry.

Do you get any specific errors when you try patching to 4.0.1a?

Delete everything in your patch directory, and try again.

Did a seach on uo.com's tech support. This is the answer I came up with for the particular 'error applying patch' message.

Quote:
Question
Why do I get "Error applying patch" when I try to patch UO?

Answer
The message “Error applying patch” can be caused by a couple of things.
1).The patch data became corrupt during the transfer and when the data was being applied it failed the CRC check, resulting in the “Error applying patch” message.
2).The patch file was written to a bad sector on the hard drive during the download, as the patch was read and then applied it fails the CRC check, resulting in the “Error applying patch” message.
3).The original file in the game folder, which is being replaced, is corrupt and when the patch is applied to the original file, it fails the CRC check, resulting in the “Error applying patch” message.

The best results for resolving this is to do the following;
1).Uninstall the game completely.
2).Using the “Disk Clean Up” option in the System Tools menu, clean all unneeded data from the drive.
3).Empty the recycle bin on the desktop.
4).Restart the computer.

5). Win XP- Run disk defrag from the System Tools menu.
Win 98-Run a thorough scan disk, and then run the Disk Defrag from the System Tools menu.
6).Restart the computer.

This process will identify bad sectors and “plug” them so that they are not used. It will also put all the data on the hard drive in a nice compact package allowing new data to be installed in a single area for faster and easier access.

Now you are ready to reinstall and patch again.
Heres the specific page I got this from, in case you feel the need to chech any of the related Q&As if this fix doesnt work either

the "error dling patch" also occurs if you have "modified" your client.exe with speed hacks, multiUOs, or Always Light patches :P

Sooooo.....find the uninstallers, and try uninstalling whatever you loaded on your client :P

All else fails? Uninstall n reinstall UO :P Save your Desktop directory tho so u dont loose ur macros

This has nothing to do with UO Gateway...

OSI's Auto-Patcher has nothing to do with "updating" your client.

All of this is from UO"s Auto-Patcher.

If your getting an error you have to reinstall UO so everything is default. Its easier jsut to reinstall then trying to figure out what file is the problem.
