Default Hard Drive Monitor

I'm starting to make an HD Monitor in C#, that will warn you if your HD usage bypass a specified size. I know this isn't directly RUO related but it is very useful for shard hosts, to be warned before their HD is completely cluttered with backups and stuff.
However, i'm having difficulties to find a method that returns the current HD usage. Any ideas are welcome.

That doesn't display a message that tells you when your free space goes below a set amount.

I honestly don't know where you set it, but I know it's there because I once got the message that I was low on space and if I wanted to run the cleanup wizard...

It's automatic in Windows. Once you get to a low point (don't know the deffinition of low :-P), it pops up a message.

If your server is running Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 you can use the built-in tool "Performance" and set up an alert to trigger when the free space drops below a limit. Once trigged the alert can run a program or send a network message.
