Pandora can't find a hues.mul file... check out the UO path in the options. Also deleting the Pandora's Box\Data\Options.xml file helps to solve this at times.

OK... I did everything you told me to deleted Options.xml and verified the pathname for the Ultima Online folder and still isnt working. Im using a custom hues.mul..It also seems that the uo client isnt using the hues.mul I have properly. But I did get it to display properly using uogateway.

To see the custom hues in pandoras box, you prolly have to change the path from the default uo folder to the uogateway shard folder...or replace your default with the custom one.

Do you have this problem on shards that use the default hue.mul?

Since its semi on topic...Arya, perhaps in some future release of Pandoras Box, have shard profile support. IE- Admin, options, speech & custom tabs savable as 'profiles' in the options tab, with a dropdown of profiles to select by the props/remove/hue/set/etc at the top.

Lmao, no clue if its possible or not...but for those of us with this kind of problem, or who staff on multiple shards...it'd be useful.

Profiles are already in the next version, you will be able to save different options, datafiles, language, buttons and pretty much anything you can configure.

Mermaid, if your hues button is disabled, it means that some error occurs when Pandora reads your hues (file not found, wrong file size, locked file). You should see the error in the log file ( Pandora's Box\Documents\BoxLog.txt ). Can you look in there and post whatever error it's reporting?

You have a locked hues.mul file. If your running Windows XP, check the ownership of the file through properties and make sure you own the file.

k this is Evil Lil Mermaid's bf, she kinda forgot her pw to log in hehe
k we've deleted the Options.xml, changed the pathname to the uog folder, and still no success. We're thinking it has to do withthe earlier post about file ownership in XP, but neither of us has a good understanding of how to fix it. Also, the custom hues.mul does not work on other shards (on her computer anwyay) altho it does on mine. I have Win98 OS and have had no problems with the custom hues.mul in the Ultima Online folder, even on shards that don't support it. So the question n ow is, how do we set the ownership of the file so we can use it? BTW the custom hues DO work if we set uogateway to use the custom hues.mul on our test shards. Thanks to everyone for all your help, u guys are great

I have had experiences where when you make a custom hues file, the ownership gets screwed up when extracting and copying it from archives.

To fix it, rightclick on the custom hues file, go to properties. Go to Security, then click on advanced. When doing this make sure your account is an administrator. Now click on the Owner tab and look at the list, it should say either your account name and/or Administrators (referring to all accounts with that access). Next click back on the Permissions tab, and see if either your account or Administrators is listed. If it does not say that, then add yourself in by clicking Add. Then click on Advanced, then click on find now. Select Administrators, (not administrator). Click OK, then select Administrators and click edit. In the list there should be check boxes for allow and deny. Check ALL of them under allow, and none under deny (common sense). The most important one is at the bottom called Take Ownership.

If this all checks out already, go to Effective Permissions, click on Select, click on advanced, click on find now, select Administrators (not Administrator). Click OK, and make sure all boxes are checked. If so then click okay. Restart your computer (just in case). And see if it works.

IF IT DOESNT.. then i blame windows. Because it IS in fact an access is denied error which means its either in use, or locked.

I just recently got slammed with the Locked Hues.mul file. What MY problem is, is that I AM logged on as the administrator. But whenever I right click and go to properties on a file, I do not get any tabs that say "Security" or any other tab except for the first main tab. What do I need to do to fix this problem since even though as the ONLY admin on this computer I cannot access that part of the file.

*BUMP*
I've got the same issue as CorneyGL, I cant seem to find anywhere I can access the owner rights to the file, it only has one tab.
I'm also an admin on my own computer, but I cant even copy the file, much less use it in pandora's box, anyone have any idea?

This post is outdated and is referring to an old version of Pandora's Box which is no longer supported. In Pandora's Box 2 you can specify the location of each UO file, including hues.mul, so all you need to do is to point PB to load the file from a different location.

try disabling simple file sharing.
if you have XP home edition you cant, but on Pro edition in an explorer window, go to tools, folder options, view. in advanced uncheck the "use simple file sharing". click ok

now, go to your control panel, under administrative tools, go to services
restart the server service (this has to be started for the security tabs to show up)
