Default mul files question

Is there any program that can compare 2 mul files and display their changes?
i.e. 2 art.mul and art.idx files and only display entries one or the other is missing.

Or one that displays which files the verdata.mul does change and which changes are made.

I doubt it. I don't know what you're using it for, but say you have one clean one, and one modified one, you could open the modified one, and see which slots have been modified. It takes longer that way, but I think that's probably the only way you'll be able to do it.

Oooh lots of things can be in a Verdata! You can have custom gumps, custom animations, custom clothing, armor, weapons...I could go on. If you're trying to look at a Verdata though to see what's in it, you could just get Michelangelo. We have an old Verdata, when we need to take art out of it, we just load it in Michelangelo, find the piece we want, right click it, save it, and import it to the right file using MulPatcher. You can view things in a Verdata using MulPatcher of course, but there's no specific tab for "Verdata". It will take everything in the Verdata and spread it out into the files it should be in, making it a little tedious to go through the huge lists just to find maybe 1 or 2 things in the Art section that are different. Looking through old Verdatas are fun. Hope this helps a little more.

You might try michaelangelo. It has an "import from compare" feature which I've found useful in the past. I don't know if it imports only slots that are empty in the original file and filled in the destination file, or if it also imports slots that are one thing in the original and different in the destination. I used it to compare the art.mul of Mondain's Legacy to the art.mul of SE to see what had been added.

If you want to know what's in a verdata patch, you can use InsideUO. The verdata entries will show up with a different color than the rest of the entries. Very handy for exploring mysterious patches.

And if it's really big, assume it contains lots of new animation. LOL
