Default Patching animations with mbl files

So, I have several mbl (mulBuilder) files with custom animations in them that I've downloaded from the internet. I figure there's a way to patch them, otherwise why would one bother to distribute them in this format? I know it outputs in verdata, that's fine, anything in verdata I can patch to the actual mul files with the MUO tool. But my problem is that when I generate the files, the animation isn't in the verdata. It's definitely in the file - I can see it in the Anims tab, and can even preview it. It saves gumps, art, and tiledata fine, but no animation. This has happened with every file of this type that I've tried, even ones from different sites.

I've looked all over and I can't seem to find the answer to this. *scratches head* I could save all the images in the animation and try to put them together with some other program, but these are already nicely packaged, and if there's a way to generate them, I'd like to do it without a lot of extra work. Does anyone know why my mulbuilder isn't saving the animation?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much. ^_^

I don't think that's the problem, though I really appreciate the help. For one thing, these are packages being distributed by people that have presumably used them themselves, and confirmed that they work (granted, not everyone tests their work, but this happens with all the patches I try, even ones made by different people). Secondly, I've tried changing the animIDs in the packages, and I still get the same results.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Maybe I'm just going mad. o_O Has anyone successfully patched animation to verdata with mulbuilder (NOT mulpatcher)? Can you confirm that it's possible, at least? I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance,
-Janice
