I am looking for suggestions of features of Pandora's Box that should be ported to Hephaestus' Forge.
Incase you don't know, Hephaestus' Forge is a project to attempt to update Pandora's Box to .NET Framework and basicly add expansion support. Due to issues within the code itself, a rewrite of the code and a new layout will be required. We would like to hear suggestions from anyone that is willing to provide it. I hope people will put their differences or dislike for myself and help this project. Anything you can provide to the project, and I do mean anything, will be appreciated. I have enabled guest posting on my website within the particular forum for this project, which will be removed after awhile but I won't no excuse for somebody not to post a suggestion. If you cause a problem I can and will block your ip. Ryan is hosting my website, so please play nice, I disabled guest posting once because of issues that I won't go into. Please feel free to post the suggestion here, if thats what you want to do, but you can view the topic at the link below: http://discussion.seanchen.net/index.php?showtopic=430 |

I would love to help with this product but dont know enough about programing, but here are a few suggestions...
1. Would it be hard to make (or even possible to make) it access level related? 2. Mabey have a few skins for it? 3. Have the speach box stop when you can't type anymore on the screen? |

2) I don't think this will happen, its hard enough to design a application that works, let alone have a skin system. 3) I will be sure to add this to our bug tracker, when the time is right I would like to add, we will accept the help from anyone that can do something as simple as type on a keyboard. There is a ton of stuff that we have to do that doesn't require knowlege of C#. If you would like more information on what these things would be please signup on my forum and post your interested in helping. I don't want this thread to turn into something its not. |

It tells me I need to login to post :-/
Anyway, I think it should be made completely modular. It would ship with a couple of modules, and provide a framework for people wanting to extend their shard's protocol. A RemoteAdmin client could be including to act as a useful tool and example on how to use the framework. I've been wanting to do a similair thing for some time but never found the time. |

I just wanted to post saying that I really hope that you can recreate Pandora's Box Make it more user friendly with less of the gendocs that has to be imported into box for them to work ... I really think It is a great program.I hope to see Your program in the near future with a great new outlook of what to expect out of runuo with the programs side because as it stands there are few programs that work well with runuo that are Easy to use ..Im not a programmer have no clue how to write in C# so I have depended on the boards and programs while Im trying to learn C# writing Since my switch from sphere to Runuo I have enjoyed the Lag reduction.

I was wondering if there could be a way to maybe have the last 10 items you have added in game in a list instead of having to go back and forth between catagories (ie. items, decor and even npc's). It gets real annoying when building and having to switch between catagories and search through all the flooring or walls to find the exact last one you used. Just and idea....Thanks for listening

I'd love to help with the idea, but I am very new to RunUO, and I have very little experience with the whole set up, much less C# and all the .net stuff. Until I gain some experience, I will only suggest a few things that I have seen.
1. Ctrl+Q is an in game macro that allows you to retype the last thing you said, but with Pandora's Box, I have noticed it does not work. 2. Adding new travel points in Pandora's Box appears to have some small difficulties. I have had problems adding new folders to the right places. 3. Adding items from the Deco menu doesn't add the item with the full properties of the item, so basically you end up with a door that won't open or a recall rune that won't mark. 4. From my experience with Axis, it is user friendly adding self written scripts. A new release of Pandora's Box should definately have an easy system to accomplish this. I know that some of these issues are small, and probably passible if I really looked into it, but as a complete program being shipped, I don't understand why anyone would want these problems to exist. The deco menu thing seems strange, even if it is in that menu, but it seems harder to find everything without going there. The idea is to be user friendly, and it should be considered during the developing phase. Just thoughts, and thanks for listening. Oh, and if I am just a moron and these problems don't exist, let me know so I can stop being a moron... |

Id like to see the props options a bit easier to use. Maybe have a drop down menu with the avaible props for that item, and then another box where you can put the value youd like to add. Then you can click something like add props, and it would "save" that prop till you are done, then you click add item and it adds it with those props. Then it would reset the "saved" props.
I dont know if this is and effecient way to do it, but just and idea. Also the post of the searchen.net boards seems to be gone. is the project still a go or are we stuck with PB for awhile? |
