Default Pandora doesn't start

When i first installed it, it was working fine but the second time i ran it it didn't show up. I checked my processes and it says it's running but the window just doesn't show up anymore. Anyone know what's wrong?

I had a few of my GM's have this problem, and we could never figure it out
they switch over to the 5.0 version and it worked fine for them then
not sure which version you are running

but can try these also:
if you have it set to connect to the box server - try disabling that

also in document & sections, etc - there is a pandora directory in there to hold your "profiles" - try deleting that and have it make a new one

I am having the same problem; hangs as a hidden process, yet I am running on client version 5.0 . I cannot find the profile directory in the document and settings.

Anyone have solution?

I'm having the same issue, and I clicked on the link provided and it says this page cannot be displayed. Anyone care to take a crack at this? Yes, I'm running XP with everything else required. I've been running a server for several years now, and until now (moved to a new computer) I havent had any issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I was having this issue myself. It has something to due with a corrupted Profile. You will have to delete the Profile that its trying to use.

My profile was kept here:

Local Disk C:/Documents and Settings/****/Application Data/Pandorasbox

The file that i put the **** for has my personal name I assume all comps name a folder like this atleast everyone i have seen. Application Data is a hidden file, you’ll have to set you folder to see hidden files.

Hope this helps.

I am using Pandora Box 2 Beta 5. It was working great for a day. Closing it and reloading worked. Then today it loaded once and that was it. I uninstalled everything. Even where the profiles are loaded. I reinstalled it and it was working fine for one try again, close it out and then that is it.

Default Working Again

Pandora's Box stopped working after I installed a new version of .net framework or visual basic 6.0. I did a roll back of my computer to a day ago. I uninstalled Pandora's Box and then reinstalled it. After that it now works like it should.

The reason it may work and not be visiable is cause of a .net framework or basic visual 6.0.

it's more likely because you are using vista and it was written for xp or earlier. I think PB was recompiled to use .Net 2.0, so using .Net 3/3.5 won't work unless you have previous versions of .Net still installed, it won't have anything to do with VB6 as it doesn't use and VB Runtime files. I've been using Pandora's box 2beta7 fine with little problems... the only problem I had was the "tracking" feature where it tracks your location on a map, it causes an infinite crashloop when that feature is turned on.

Pandora box was working fine until I installed VB and another net frame work. I had them all installed cause of updates. That is when PB stopped working for me and I just did a roll back and now it works perfectly. The only thing I did not install was VB. I am using Vista but PB is working now.

I've been using Pandoras Box ver7 for almost 6 months now with no trouble. I'm using WinXP with the .net frameworks 1 thru 3.whatever the # is. Most times, what its doing is loading then running as a background program. Check the Task Manager/Processes to see if it is. If so, close it out, go into the PB folder and delete your profile. Then reload PB and make a new profile. Should work fine then. This worked with both beta5 & 7. Updating seems to corrupt the profile. As for the Visual Basic... no idea. I dont use it. I'm using Visual C#. But since the VB scripts are pretty much non existant around here, not much need for VB at all. Unless you need it for other things.

I haven't even had a chance to create a profile. From day 1 of it being installed (running XP as well as .net frameworks 1 thru 3) it has always run in the background and I have not been able to get it anywhere else.

I think Vista comes installed with Net 2.0. Ive never had to install it anyways and I'm running Net 2.0 compiled software.

I read elsewhere in the forums that PB tends to put a startup window in the background where you can't see it without tabbing to it in some way, possibly with task manager.

This is exactly what happened to me, too. The process is running, but there is no way to access the program. It's just invisible.

If you delete the profile and restart it it comes back up asking you to create a new profile, and that will work, but only for a short time.

Maybe try whats called a "clean install"? Uninstall the program, delete any left over files in program files for that program, reboot the computer, then try re-installing it.

I've fixed with:

1) deleting pandora profile
2) fixing mapViewer.dll ( http://www.runuo.com/forums/third-pa...tml#post743137 )

^_^

I have done this as well, and that still hasn't fixed it.

For the time being, I have to do this every single time that I want to run Pandora's Box. If anyone knows a better fix I would love to hear it. Thanx!
