As it becomes increasingly difficult to get any Ultima online 3rd party program's, I've posted what I have on a free host, to let you download them.
1.) Cartographer - Allows you to change the in game maps, to displace locations in your custom world, rather then the original world. cartograph.zip 2.) Dragon mod 9 - One of the earlier map editors, allows you to convert a bitmap drawing of a map, into a ultima map. dragonmod9.rar 3.) Dragon mod 11 - The next release of Dragon, better then dragon mod 9 allows you to convert BMP's into working map muls dragonmod11.rar 4.) Map2BMP - allows you to convert a map mul file into a Bmp file for further editing. map2bmp.rar 5a.)Multi editor- Allows you to construct buildings, structures of any sort, in editing environment you can save, and later import into map editor for placement. 5b.)Map editor - Allows you to add static items into the game, trees, tiles, walls, also allows you to import structures created in multi editor into the world, like houses etc.. mapeditor.rar 6.)Map Generator - Same as dragon, a little more advanced, BMP converter into map muls. mapgenerator.rar 7.)UO Architect - Allows you to design houses, in the editor, and load them as tiles in the game, you can use the [freeze command with runuo to add to the mul files. UO Architect 2.6.rar 8.)Uo Hue editor - Allows you to add custom colors to the game, easiest one I found to use. UOHueEditor.rar 9.)World forge - Map editor again, allows you to manipulate tiles, offers a few features that map editor doesn't its better for altitude adjustments, and using it with map editor, makes caves alot easier to place. worldforge.rar Not all these files are nessesary for building a good world, but I would recommend either Dragon mod 11 or Map generator to actually generate the map, worldforge for touch ups after, (sometimes theres transitions that don't work right, plus its much easier for placing roads, and altitude adjustments) and also Map editor, and Multi editor for adding towns, and creating new structures. There you go everyone, hope these files help.

Why not just send users to ryandor.com which is a map building site? That's where most of these files came from, and they aren't offline and never have been for any extended period of time during the past 5 years or more. Things are slow over there, seems to me it would be better to promote sites like Ryandor instead of pushing traffic for their files elsewhere.
http://uo.orbsydia.ca is the other major map editing site. Offline right now but I'm sure its only temporary. Last edited by HellRazor; 04-24-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

Feedback On Promoting These Websites:
Rayndor and Orbsydia are both confusing websites... you have to navigate in a sea of links to find the files which best suit your needs; not to mention the files people need to create maps don't really have discriptors or in-depth tutorials on how to use them on any of these sites. ![]() These Sites Aren't That Newbie Friendly: People using these sites seldom give you direct answers to any questions you might post on their forums, and if they do its usually weeks after the fact. A lot of times you'll get a response similar to what CEO is famous for: a bunch of links relating to not only your question, but also a million other questions that may or may not have anything to do with what you're trying to figure out; absolutely useless really. ![]() My 2 Cents.... I think that since there are so many UO hobbyists out there - then we should all work together to make things easier for the next new guy who gets into this hobby. ![]() ![]() Thank You For Listing These... I think this guy is doing a great service by hosting these files and offering them to everyone instead of redirecting to Rayndor or Orbsydia. This makes it much easier for people to get the files they need. |

Ryandor is full of porn adds last time i was there, I won't go near that site, Orbsydia, half the links are broken, much like tanjiers. why don't I? because I know those sites no longer work, and I've received at least 2 dozen people sending me pms in Runuo asking for me to send it to them because they can no longer gain access to them, so instead of being Mr' fileserver and sending the files out to everyone myself, I put em up on a host for people to gain access to.

Maybe they have problems butth with better support they wont fade away. Think of what would happen if people led others away from this site.... our hobby might disapear.
There is alot of knowledge on those two sites. Although I havent messed with customs maps since runUO1.0 I couldnt have done it without the earlier incaranations of ryandor and orbsydia. Perhaps you could also link them to them. I mean most people are going to have questions about those apps at least, and where else to steer them to? Just my (unasked for) 2 cents. |

Give credit where credit is due... therefore here's what you can do:
continue to provide the files for free on your own hosting server and include links where each of the files orginated. There, problem solved. And I learned all of this in 1 day YAY.![]() ![]() |

And apparently it sure didn't stop you from going there to download 90% of the files in this thread. Quote:
No one ever said anything about Tanjiers, that site hasn't been maintained for years. Quote:
If you want to kill support sites that help promote these programs and how to use them, this is a good way to help do that. Just because you personally don't want to use the sites doesn't mean you should steal their files and throw em on some crappy free file hosting site (Christ, talk about ads, spam, and porn, you're more likely to get that from sites like mediafire than you are from ryandor.com). This is just bad form as far as I'm concerned. No wonder the community is dying. People are just ingrates, it's all "gimmee gimmee gimmee" but no giving back. I'm surprised ryandor and orb are even still online with this type of attitude. |

All I'm saying is, support the sites that support these programs, because when those sites are gone, where will we get the files then? And who will teach anyone how to use them? I mean really, we have Ryandor.com, Orbsydia.ca (sometimes, hah), and basically that is it so far as the UO world building support sites go. So it's not really asking so much, especially with Ryandor's site which has been up consistently and forever. You should stop by, its a friendly place and it can use some new faces. Yeah, the files section could be better organized and more user friendly, but many of those files are only available because Ryandor has kept them intact on his site for many years now, and Ryandor doesn't even play UO or run a shard any more! Otherwise they'd be lost to time, and only guys like me who have held onto all that stuff for the last 10 years would have them, and I wouldn't have anyplace to send you and other people who are looking for them. Anyway, I know you didn't mean anything by it and are just trying to help, and I'm not trying to jump all over you or anything, honestly. Just making a point is all. |

I think you hit them at a bad time. I think he DID have ONE very brief period where someone was using an exploit in the forum software to do some of that stuff. But it didn't last very long, he updated the forum software and that was the end of that. So I guess I can see where you might have thought that. But the site has never been abandoned. It's been up for as long as I can remember. It's not very fancy, as Ryandor doesn't play UO any more and he doesn't have a lot of time to make it all pretty, but it is functional. He's left the site up to support the community.
I created the punt file repository over there to preserve all of punt's utilities, which were hard to find after they decided to take the MapGen2 site down. Ryandor has been pretty much the Dragon support site ever since the Dragon site when down a few years ago. Anyway, I encourage world builders to drop in to Ryandor.com - Maps for UO Emulation and Half-Life as its still a great place. It's not very busy these days, but you can still usually get answers to questions and there is a ton of useful world building info in their forums. And also Orbsydia whenever they get back online, from what I have heard they have suffered a severe hardware failure and need to rebuild everything from scratch. |

Orbsydia will be back up soon, I just renewed my domains, and have it on a new dedicated 8 core (dual quad core remote server) aka I'm no longer hosting from my studio anymore. Which I hope will help support stablity of the site. I'm also cleaning up all the links to make it much easier to find content. Compared to the past. I hope the new site will be much easier to use. We're also opening a L2 Emu Site, and SL Site in conjuction .. the uo content will be at uo.orbsydia.ca .. more info later, or check the site. I've been swamped with client work and getting our own non emu based websites stable.
Thanks for holding the fort Hellrazor

I am not here to judge, every program has it's own strength and weaknesses... Where others will try to be better than the others... I am mainly trying to fix the critical issues with what I see in Dragon and UOL... But in the near future I'll be adding the advance Static Region Editor (Allows you to control how the compiler will function).. Anyway...
