Are you using knives chat? Im pretty sure that is the only thing using preferences.xml. If so there was an error with an earlier release, you will need to upgrade.
I did a search for my problem before posting, The post I found was dated 7/7/04 and knives chat had been updated many times before, Can any one offer any current information on this save error please.
