Your First Time Logging In

No matter how 733t someone is, they started out as a daisy fresh n00b. I thought it would be cool if everyone shared their experience of logging into UO for the first time. I remember Atlantic was the first shard I ever logged into many years ago, I ended up getting lost in the woods near brit, before I got pwnt hard. *sigh* good times.

i dont remember when i first started.

But I do remeber using my uncle's treasure maps as decoration outside his house.

Hahhahaha he was so pissed.

I didn't start until right before AoS was out. I logged onto Lake Austin and ran around like a noob until I got killed in Brit Graveyard. I had some good times there for about the first month of my UO life

i don't remember my first time i logged in, but i do remember that the first 1000 gold i got, i got from killing cows outside moonglow (and selling their meat/hides to vendors). that week rocked...

I remember loggin in and killing a dog just outside britain, thinking I was badass, I continued down towards trinsic and being put in place by a dire wolf....spent the next 6 hours wandering through the swamps with a black and white screen before saying the hell with it and starting a new character just so I could see the game in color again...was a great thing when the friend of mine who got me into the game finally told me how I could res

the first day i logged in i died in brit graveyard and then stood outside the healer's building for about an hour or so, waiting for my page to be answered. every time i clicked on the door to open it i got the message "i am dead and cannot do that". i didn't realize that ghosts could go through doors. the gm answered my page shortly after i figured it out and was ressed and still standing in the healer shop.

All I recall of my osi days (uo:r, I still have my map & player's guide) was running around taming birds and making occasional trips into Brit gy only to end up dead. xD Only played on the official servers for about two months, then irl stuff happened. When I next looked into uo, free servers were around.

First time I logged in was at the VERY beginning of T2A. I remember distinctly thinking "This is STUPID. It's taking me 5 minutes to kill a BIRD!!!"

I then ran back and forth between Trinsic and Britain, trying not to die :-P

Hey TMSTKSBK, what does the name stand for? *just curious*

My first time logging into uo...I never read those books you get with games, well, that you get with pretty much anything anyway. I usually would just figure it out by trying it out so with online games I try to hook up with other newbs, learn it together. I logged in and I remember seeing a bunch of people. One kept running by real fast, too fast for my crappy dial-up connection at the time and there was another just standing there. I believe this was around the time that third dawn was out, not sure. I know there was a bar across the top of my screen that had the options to do special things, like dance. So to get this person to answer me I thought maybe I would just start dancing....took a while to figure out it was an NPC. lol yeah I felt like a dumbass. I did end up quitting cause whatever shard I had chosen to play on, the people were rude and snobby. Keep in mind I had never even played an online game before, so you can pretty much guess how frustrating I was to these people also lol

My first time logging in , hmm well. Some guy at first said to hand him my bag ... i tried to hang him that mail bag or whatever it called.As i understand now he didn't wanted mail bag but my backpack items... Then i started to fish and the first 2,3k was so big money!! Then I've got few friends(we met at BRitannia tavern , that which is near Bank ) with whom i drove to island a bit farer from brit with ship , i never drove with it before but that night was loong , i drove till Trinsic ( we lost in sea ) and then understood that running by foot is faster than moving with ship ( they were pretty slow ... )
WEll anyway we at this cruise tried to steal items from ships we found in water( but it usually didnt worked)
When we after 'Trinsic got till that island we chopped trees and made tables and then selled them.And for first money we bought home in nice place at Minoc hills , there were one cave and there we added , ahh great times

Waah uo was more fun when I was newbie.

First time I logged in to a UO shard was about a year ago. I'd known about Ultima Online for a few years, but never had the money to buy a subscription. A friend told me there were freeshards that I could play on and got me started. My first time playing, I created my character, and started out in Brit (this is on a Non-AoS shard) I thought, wow this is cool...my character is a warrior, so I decide I'm going to go on a killing rampage through town. I walked up on what I thought was an unsuspecting person (ended up being an escortable), went into war mode, and made my attack...BOOM...a guard appeared out of nowhere and I was killed in a flash of lightning I proceeded to run around in front of Brit bank as a ghost with all sorts of people laughing at me. A kind person finally took pity on a poor noob and guided me to the healers shop

My first time playing UO was on a freeshard at the local university. [the one I'm now running, how times have changes] I started out in Brit as a paladin. Not knowing anything about the game I started to aimlessly wander around. At that time [I didn't know it] there was a standing quest going on about a Daemon and his imp followers trying to invate Brit from the West [the road to minoc]
That also happened to be the road I chose to follow... I ran smack dab into the Daemon and died in a single hit. Then I ran around for hours in the woods instead of just going back to town and I finally made a new character. I later went back and killed the daemon with the help of one of the "heroes" of the shard. [he did most of the work, I just hit it like twice and ran around typing stupid things like: "For thou sins against me thee shall suffer by our blades" and stuff like that]

Oh my that was a long time ago?

I'm one of those that never reads the instruction manual so........ I create a new character and start him off in Brit after finding someone who can give some advice on where a newb miner/smith can get a foot hold I'm told of Minoc and set on the correct road.........Well along the way I musta gotten lost and saw someone and went up to ask directions...... Having not read the booklet with the game I didn't know what a red name was he sat there talking to me for about 5 minutes then proceded to PK my fresh lil character........ Least he was nice enough to point me in the right direction to Minoc after that though.
