That was actually quite a good read, I can see the bloggers' point of view though and here's why, with a simple UO analogy:
The original skills feature in UO was designed with logic in mind that would more closely suit realistic progression.
The higher your overall skills total, the harder it would be to achieve skill gains.
When you specialize in a skill and you've capped it, the other available skills would be slightly harder to learn.
Basically, the more knowledge in your head, the harder it is to learn new things; You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
When you apply this logic to developing any language or platform, you can easily see why the blogger has a valid point, to some extent.
The way in which the blogger has conveyed his opinion pretty much made him a target, when you have access to thousands of users, you should probably be careful about what you say.
In this case, he invited the hate, but that's irrelevant.
