Personaly I always loved watching religious debates, I always thought it kinda akin to a pissing contest. However unlike a pissing contest everyone is pissing in a different direction and claiming to have won. In the end all you got is a bunch of people walking away smuggly soaked in eachother's piss.

Gosh people if you belive in something, belive in it. However don't prove your own insecurity in your beliefs by trying to convince other people that they are wrong for beliving what they do. This goes both ways.

I am a Christian and I am secure enough in myself to not need to justify my beliefs to anyone.

Cheers,
Nick

I agree ratfink.
Also, explaining why a religion is false is very sick.
Everybody should believe in something. But you should not try to falsify others' beliefs just because you think it's wrong.

The Holy Bible

Oh, and before you say, "Oh some lonesome guy wrote the Bible." Wrong. The Holy Bible wasn't written by man.
LOL. Yes it was written by man. It was written by a bunch of lunatics on drugs.

There is nothing saying that man didn't write it. But if you read the Bible, you can ask yourself this questions...

How can man have wrote this?

The Bible is so perfect. Flare, compare the Holy Bible to other religious books. Which makes more sense?

Watch the news and TV shows. What si the ONE religion mentioned most throughout the United States and even acros the world?

Christianity
Wow, I see some one that needs to go do some research on the bible because it's far from perfect. The bible has thousands of mistakes and thousands of contradictions and is why it can't be use to prove jack. Here's a really huge misconception about the bible. People seem to think the literature predates the king James version of the bible and these mistakes occurred in each translation of the bible up to the kings james version when in fact the king james version is the translation from the dead sea scrolls. Before the king james version of the bible there was no bible. There was only the scrolls. So these mistakes and contradictions were translated right out of the dead sea scrolls strait into the king james version of the bible.

You only see mistakes because of your religion. I really don't care what you think about the Bible or Christianity. Besides, your life isn't my councern but I feel sorry for you when you die. =/

I'm sorry, but I will argue my religion until the day that I die. Its just my strong beliefe.

What I want to know is, how do atheist people feel everyday believing that when they die that thats it. You're gone for good.

Well, I can't live like that. And I am convinced enough that God does exist and that he offers a place for eternal life for everyone who lives a sinless life.

Decompose and then become part of nature? ...

I guarantee you there is not ONE document or base information out there to believe that reincarnation into part of nature or even another human is in any way a "logic" reason to live by except for Monks. And I'm sure you're not a monk. If you were, you wouldn't be posting here. You would be walking in an ancient temple watching your footsteps making sure you don't step on a roach(aka in this religion: your Grandma) That makes no sens of what you say. Atleast Christianity offers a sense of hope and faith for an eternal life from this world. In my belief, everyone has an immortal soul. And its fate of destination lies in your hands to make the right decisions.

Whoaaaaaa....calm down. It's my belief, not to worry, I wasn't trying to falsify your religion (is that the right word to use?). *ahem* sorry. Um, anyway, on another note, here's some food for thought (if you guys aren't already tired to death of this debate):

http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2003/05/lewis.htm

And there was something that someone said once, I don't know if it was someone on this forum (forgive my plagarism)...anyway, it went something like this:

every religion says that if you don't believe in their god, you'll go to hell(or the equivalent). So, in essence, we are all going to hell, and there is no heaven.

If you want to go to Hell, then continue not to believe in anything. Thats just you. You'll regret it one day though. Trust me...

Its a very harsh religion that condemns anybody to 'hell' purely for disbelief... i myself live life just to see people happy, i dont pertain to be a part of any specific religion but it makes me happy to know i'm helping. Some say the divine is a macrocosm of our inner selves, so if i feel good then the gods are smiling. Now why should i go to 'hell' just because you think I should ?

Sorry, Religion is always personal.

About Hell:

I don't believe in Hell, so how can I go to a place I don't believe in?

About Christianity:

It's a structured religion. It is strong and continues to be. Christianity will never 'fall' or die or anything like that (unless we all die).

About Religion:

I used to believe religion was a crutch, but that has changed somewhat. Some people need religion. Just as some people need certain drugs to survive (I'm talking like heart-condition drugs, not like cocaine or that). Nothing to be argued about there.

About Church:

Church, though, is a crutch. If you require someone to speak for you to your "God" and feel the need to gather in a place every week to compare clothing and amount of money one can contribute to said church, then there may be a problem. Church as a fellowship is good. Church as a business, however, is not.

And by the way, I'm not even sure what I am. I don't go to church. I don't believe in any particular God or religion. But at least I am open minded and allow others to believe what they wish to believe. My opinions and beliefs are my own, as are everyone else's.
