so i negged you, you can now not neg me back?, Am i understanding the terms of this agreement?

Here is something I found that simplifies the karma system:

How does it work?

-each registered member starts out with 10 karma points in their pocket
-you can rate any post by clicking on the small reputation button
-you can only rate each post once
-each time you rate a post you affect that poster's karma
-the amount that you affect their karma depends on a few things, but basically an older member with lots of posts and lots of karma will affect someone elses karma much more than a new member with no posts
-generally someone with high karma is a respected person and someone with low or negative is either new or a jerk
-every aspect is configurable in the cpanel

That's it in a nutshell.

- source is vBulletin forums -

Hope that helps you understand it a bit Alex.

lol I am starting to get you, which is a good thing. Maybe we can debate something else along the way. I like hashing out ideas with people.
Sadly, most people think of this as confrontation rather than a mutual exercise of hashing.

True, but I think in time the real nature of people will come out, and a persons motives can be realized clearly as the conversation progresses. If this is good or bad, depends heavily on the people conversing.

Indeed. I find that a lot of insecure people feel attacked in such discussions.

Why o why did you have to renew this thread?

because i had a relevant idea of what to post, i thought the youtube video clip would add new flare to this argument, but this thread still seems fairly dormant.

It was relevant and a good contribution tbh. Alex might be a funny little guy, but his post here is actually appreciated.

THINK AND GROW RICH

In 1908, Napoleon Hill was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie--then the richest man in the world--to interview 500 successful people to discover and publish a formula for success that the average person could duplicate. Hill conducted research for more than 20 years. His 1937 book, still in print, has sold more than 30 million copies. It continues to influence our collective thought, and current literature and teachings on prosperity and success. Since its original publication, it has shown up on bestseller lists of business books as recently as 2007 in BusinessWeek magazine.

Hill's 13 principles for success...

1. Desire. Hill believes that a burning desire is the starting point for all achievement. Do you have a burning desire? Have you ever had one? I believe the most successful people live their lives as a series of desires, passions and accomplishments.

2. Faith. In this context, faith is about visualizing your desire and believing you will attain it.

3. Auto suggestion. Today we call this concept "affirmation." This is the practice of repeating positive thoughts to influence your subconscious mind. An affirmation should be in the present, even if you don’t have it yet. So if your goal is to create a multimillion-dollar business, your affirmation would be, "I am in the process of building a multimillion-dollar business." As your plan becomes clearer you would say, "I own a multimillion-dollar business."

4. Specialized knowledge. Those who pursue knowledge and professional competence are more confident, more competent and more likely to succeed. How do you continue your professional education?

5. Imagination. As you go about your day, think about ways to do things better.

6. Organized planning. Every goal needs a plan. When you have a plan in place, you always know what to do next.

7. Decision. Hill finds that successful people are able to make decisions promptly and change their decisions slowly. I believe it is not the outcome that makes a decision good or bad, but the process used to reach that decision. Hill sees the decision-making process as a way to tame procrastination.

8. Persistence. Don’t quit. And don’t take no for an answer. Instead, find a way around your obstacles. This takes us back to imagination.

9. Mastermind. According to Hill, a Mastermind team is a small group of people who come together with dedication to a shared goal. Masterminding is engaging in focused conversation and brainstorming with others. Typically, the issue at hand is business-related, but the mastermind process could be used to solve almost any dilemma, project or experience. Masterminding works because five heads are better than one. The process allows us to share our knowledge and experience.

10. The mystery of sex transmutation. This is the ability to switch the mind from thoughts of physical expression to thoughts of some other nature. Additionally, Hill finds that almost every successful person has a supportive person (a love interest) to count on.

11. The subconscious mind. Hill talks about using your mind to visualize your future as you want it to be. And he talks about following your hunches--the messages you get from your subconscious mind.

12. The brain. How much of your brain’s potential do you use? Maximizing your brain power means thinking through your problems instead of reacting emotionally.

13. The sixth sense. According to Hill, when you master the first 12 principles, you can go through the door to the Temple of Wisdom and tap into your sixth sense: the infinite intelligence.

10. The mystery of sex transmutation. This is the ability to switch the mind from thoughts of physical expression to thoughts of some other nature. Additionally, Hill finds that almost every successful person has a supportive person (a love interest) to count on.
Until he/she/it divorces you and steals all your wealth.

This was funny, it kind of reminds of me of scientology and how they think that postive thinking can make you successful. What a load of bullshit. This is no different then those people who refuse to admit that they are sick, thinking if they do not name it then it will not kill/infect them.

@Arkad- Ok the only real point here, is please understand that not everyone MUST believe it. If you think everyone that disagrees with you is a complete moron than let them have the life they deserve. They don't believe in it and never will.

"Until you have learned to be tolerant with those who do not always agree with you; until you have cultivated the habit of saying some kind word of those whom you do not admire; until you have formed the habit of looking for the good instead of the bad there is in others, you will be neither successful nor happy." - Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill

There is a lot of talk of the creator in this.

"When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal."

He said this, now how does that not sound like set goals and work on them until one succeeds?

He seems like a very wise man, however his ideas seem to have been smacked with the New Age stick and are taking on a completely different meaning in "The Secret."

Well the last thing I want is to get in a pissing match with someone on here "This stupid shit doesn't work because my life completely sucks!"

Thats true. The Secret is overhyped yet the basic principles are still there.

Thanks for the link !

It evidently doesn't work even if you believe in it. You might think you're successful in your business enterprises or whatever, but you're an annoying stupid person just slightly above J MaNN. I don't consider that successful in the slightest.
