Social Security and the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority), along with numerous other programs of similar types were created during the Great Depression, by FDR. This series of programs was called "The New Deal". Sounded great at the time. But whether or not FDR liked socialism, the New Deal, and especially Social Security, ARE socialism. By its very purpose you can see that it is socialism.
What do Democrats REALLY whine and complain about?

Social programs...with ideals based in socialism.
You cannot compare FDR's "The New Deal" to current National Situations...FDR boosted goverment size in order to create jobs and promote economic growth in what was at the time the best possible way.....
As far as Democrats creating Big Goverment.......
Democrats have a bigger reccord of reducing goverment spending, and size than Republican's do.....how so?
Democrats are responsible for the majority of Military Reduction programs...while this is both good and bad it has it's benifits. If you'll remember correctly and I know it's hard you were only between the ages of 7 and 15 during Clinton's time in office and politics are usually the last thing on a person of that ages mind at the time but his economic programs reduced goverment spending and completely eliminated the national deficit during his 8 years in office through better budgets and reduction in goverment...
As of right now the Nation is in it's worse debt because some jackass is sitting in the Oval Office Playing GOD and creating wars on false information to try and leave a legacy greater than that of his father who went into a war when the information and intelligence was valid and proven.
Bush and any Republican/Democrat/3rd Party who supports his actions to do so need to resign as they have created and intergrated communist and socalist indeals into this country in a greater fashion than any other living or dead congressional or presidental party ever has. NEVER Prior to this time in our history has the US gone to such great lengths as to violate laws it has passed in order to collect information and intelligence on it's own peoples....Never untill now has the Civil Services (police namely) had the right to search your homes, tap your phones, or spy on you without a warrant or apparent probable cause (now they can do these things to gain probable cause to issue a warrent). These actions are done in the Name of Liberty but are only comparable to actions of organizations such as the KGB, SS, and the Getstapo of former Communist USSR and WWII era Nazi Germany...
