Like many have already stated most all Americans came from Immigrants and thats they way it is, they (the Immigrants) came here for a new begining and in doing so they took pride in doing so legally.

The Immigrants were also proud to addopt the new customs of this country, they took time to lear English and taught their children to respect this country for all it had to offer them.

Now come the hordes of illegal immigrants and I have no respect for their actions, they demand to be taught in their native language which causes an unneeded burden on the school sysyems across the country and that is only the start.

Now they want to bring the country to a halt with a nation wide strike for one day, I think the Gov. should use their protest to arrest and deport all without a green card and this time keep them out.

If we immigrated to Mexico we would NOT be allowed to own land, we would have to have a ton of money before being allowed into the country for immigration but when they come here it has to be different, this is a load of garbage. Deport the illeagles, keep them out and arrest the people that hire them and put them in prision.

The people that are hirring the illegal immigrants are using this as a modern method of slavery, they pay pennies for a job that would cost them more if they hired people with the legal status to be here and have those jobs. I have seen groups of illegal immigrants sleeping 10 to a room in the south working as farm workers, yes they work hard but are only paid a fraction of what should be paid.

The entire thing stems from politicians wanting more votes, if it were not an election year this crap would not be an issue.

I am sorry for the inconvenience of this question, but not for the question itself; What Part Of "ILLEGAL" Immigrant is being ignored or overlooked by so may? Illegal is ILLEGAL!!!!! If anyone desires to LEGALLY Immigrate to The United States of America, they have the proper channels and means of doing so. What they really need to do is put a lock down on all immigration no one can immigrate into the US at all untill there is a decent standard of living. Just like I don't agree with paying farmers to plow fields under while people here are starving just to maintain a profitable market for produce.

Yeah they get that crap here too....Some times they will use mutiple IDs one for a job and another to get on goverment aid.....Get Food Stamps and low income housing while earning as much as I do a week.

They had a show on a while back on Court TV where they showed the border patrol catching illegal immigrants. Well the ones they caught, they gave them a summons to appear in court and let them go!! Now come on, if you were them and they just gave you a slip of paper and said "Ok you can go now and come back to your own deportation hearing." Would you go back?? I think not. I am all for equality and such. But the American Government is running overseas to all the other countries aid and what not. Why not go into Mexico like they do everywhere else and go get the Mexican Government straight and help these people take control of their own country.

If the immigration problem is that bad, let not forget that damn near everyone in this country is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!! They came over here and took this country from the indians, MY relatives. I hope all those people protesting get shipped back to their own country then maybe all the hundreds of thousands of American people not being able to find a job can get one! I lived in Detroit for years and now I'm in AZ... why? There was absolutely NO JOBS anywhere to the point I had no choice but to move. Now that I'm in Arizona it was the same problem for a couple months but I found something! Being in Arizona right near the border these past few months has made me realize even more why Americans cant find work in their own country. Who's going to pay an American $8 an hour to do something 3 Mexicans will do for $6? It makes me sick. There are Americans out there losing their homes, cars, everything they have because there are no jobs. Why are there no jobs? BECAUSE OF IMMIGRANTS! I hope they all get shipped out and Americans get their jobs back! I honestly don't care if your country is poor and that's why you come here. If it bothers you and all the other protesters why don't you fight to make YOUR country better instead of taking jobs away from another countries people.

lol well the day has arrived and personally I'm going out and blowing my whole paycheck.

Where i work has stated anyone not being at work will be fired or in the cases of those of the most diligent workers would be severely reprimanded unless we had a valid reason with documentation . This same company lets us off during voting hours. and is usually very liberal with time off for personally matters. this company also is about 70% (legal)immigrant powered.

I'm currently about to get on the phone and start voicing my opinion to my school district which evidently is giving rides to the protest to see if its true. If it is i will be contacting my areas reps to complain where my tax dollar is going.....

I have been fairly quiet on this issue till now but here is my views on this subject.
I am married to a legal immigrant that has went though the system. we paid 3500 dollars for her to be here with a permanent resident card that must be renewed every 10 years. I have stood in line for several hours with her on 6 different occasions. During this time i noticed an actually lack of Hispanic's standing in this line. I did find quite a few people in this line that were good people.

I have also seen the general ignorance of the U.S. population to the world as a whole. During the time my wife has been in this country Ive heard such beautiful comments towards her as "Wow for being in the country for such a short time you speak great English", " you seem to be highly educated for an immigrant","I bet your happy to have moved from a third world country" and " we were also refused an account at a credit union due to the fact that she was not a citizen even though i was the primary on the account. by the way my wife for those of you that don't know me is an Australian. For those that may be confused Australia has an excellent education system that is in many ways better than our own system, is not a third world country, and speaks very proper English.

now on to the root of the problem. These people are here illegallyface fact they are here breaking at least one law (and a felony) to come here.Those that have false paperwork to work in better jobs are further break yet another law (and yet another felony). the immigration system while under staffed and under supported by our govt is not broken. its laws are not enforced. the current system tries to make sure that the people we let in are educated and able to support themselves within this country. the system does try do this in a timely fashion but to be honest it needs more funding and training to be able to keep up with the lines it currently has.

The lack of funding and training has also helped the lack containment of this problem by law enforcement. It has promoted a variety of 'catch and release' laws and has helped promote the very issue of illegal immigration. our jails 30% loaded with illegals nationwide, this means in areas where the illegal immigration is high that the jails are most likely above this figure. local police in my area are not even allowed to detain an illegal unless they have committed a felony at time of arrest. They have no place to put these people and do not have a way of easy deportation partialy due to the lack of cooperation by the respective govts of origin . in my area gang problems, and theft is also on the rise pretty much in proportion to the illegal population in my area.

the government is contributing to this problem as much as the illegal immigrants and the businesses that employ them. lack of proper funding to the INS dept. and police systems has not increased enough for almost 2 decades. the 'amnesty' plan of the early 80's did not work, only about 2-5% of the illegals at that time took advantage. now our school systems are beginning to buckle and fail as well as our public health system (which was a mess long before this issue).

As to the fact that these jobs are jobs that no one wants thats utter crap and untrue. in most cases in the service industry these jobs could easily be filled by our teenagers. they were filled by our teenagers in past generations.
in our construction fields they could be filled by workers that are already there now that in alot of cases strugling to find a decent job. after katrina there were workers pulled off the job site in favor of illegals because they would work for less. this work for less thing is BS and personal ill support any fair bill that would allow for individual hiring rates per field of work. alot of the blue collar class jobs could use this just to combat the will work for less policies in the work place today. personally Ive gotten tired of hearing "we must compete with china " in my own work place. my company does less than 1% of our work and ships it over seas and most of our work is of a quality level(aerospace, medical, close tolerance by definition) that cannot be achieved by outsourcing it to alot of other countries.

I'm amazed by my govt. on the lack of border security and security in general at our points of entry. On my most recent visit out of this country i was labeled as a possible threat to the Australian authorities(due to a child support issue that had been corrected several years before). I had to call to their govt. to get a travel visa issued(which was little more than a 5 min phone call to their govt offices, with much humor form both sides on the phone ill add). While on my trip i saw far better security methods being used in Australia than i had in LAX. I have a completely clean record in the U.S.. At the same token there have been evidently 2 million visas ordered by my govt for for travel to the U.S. that have led to 2 million of the current illegal immigrants that are here. seems like my rights have been infringed more by recent NSA laws than them *shrugs*. possibly the lawmakers really need to address issues such as this.

Finally I'm appalled by the demonstrations and the number of people screaming about the illegals civil rights. Civil rights pertain to those that are legally living here period. The simple fact that these people have broken laws to be here in fact excludes them from alot of these rights.

Well thats unfair in the way your put it.

If you come here, at least speak english and follow american customs, laws, and other things when in public. When you're with your family go friggen nuts with your own customs and languages.

That brings me to another point. Some of my friends are brazillian and I have picked up a large amount of portugues from them. They always speak english when they are around people they don't know or people that don't speak portugues. When its just me and them, or one of them, they will speak portugues. Their parents also speak english around people that don't know portugues, even though it is broken and difficult to understand, they don't talk to their children in portugues either around those people.
They have adapted to american customs (hand shaking instead of kiss and hug, etc) but still use them in their own family setting, or with/around people that they know well (me and some other people)

ps. two summers ago I worked with people that were here on work visas that expired in october to december. Guess what? still here, more than a year later after their visas expired. I must disagree with the thread author: Illegal emiration makes it easier for terrorists to get in. Illegal emiration is destructive to the United States and other countries in many other ways. I thought long ago that Illegal emiration should be a felony. Thank God, now it is.

Also, why exactly should anyone be excused for passing the boader illegally? I live in Israel but I always wanted to live in the U.S: I'm doing it all legally and I support strong punishment for those who do not, because if I spend time doing it all legally respecting the United States laws, then there's no way I'm going to excuse those who do not.

By the way, I always wanted to ask an illegal immigrant supporter: what exactly do you suggest? To allow everyone live in the United States? Behold! Ignorance at work! Did you ever consider, EVEN ONCE that perhaps the reason that Americans won't take those jobs is because the massive Illegal immigration over the last 30 years has reduced the wage levels for those jobs so low that no American could afford to take them?

I have a friend who used to live in the southwest (New Mexico) in the 80's. He owned a Housing construction and subcontracting company, and was an honest man. He refused to hire anyone who couldn't pass a full background check. As Illegal immigration began to become more and more of an issue, his competitors, some of whom were less scrupulous than he, started to hire the Illegals to work for them. The Illegals would work so cheap that he was literally priced right out of the market. By the time his business folded, every single one of his employees had either left the state, or left the trade. Illegal Immigration killed his business.

He had roots in the Northeast, and moved back here and re-started his life. He recently told me that he was starting to see the same kinds of issues with Illegal Immigrants here in the northeast that he saw back in the southwest in the 80's. He's nearing retirement age, and just hopes to survive long enough to be able to retire semi-comfortably.

Don't want illegal immigrants working on farms? Expect to pay more for your groceries. Don't want legal immigrants? Be prepared to live with a lower standard of living.

This is what Illegal Immigration does: It doesn't HELP the economy, it HURTS it. Illegal Immigrants take jobs that American WILL DO, and increase the rolls of the working poor. This puts an ever-increasing burden on the already strained social services, and put the American economy in danger of going into a tailspin of plummeting wage rates and skyrocketing inflation.

Now, this is VERY different from LEGAL Immigration, which brings in high-skilled labor and improves the economy. But, of course, this is too fine a distinction to make for some, who would rather demagouge the issue and simply call those who want the laws to be respected "bigots".

Stop painting the issue with such a broad and incorrect brush. All most Americans want is for the LAWS TO BE OBEYED. If you can't respect and obey our laws in coming here, then we don't want you. It's that simple.

As far as the chipping thing, I'd only be comfortable with it being done with parolees and ex-cons. I'm not comfortable with chipping otherwise law-abiding citizens.

Money is hardly ever the reason, there are these things called quotas...we can only accept so many immigrants each year and the number is based on the education level of the country, wealth, diplomatic standing, and other factors,.

For instance, countries like Japan wouldn't have near as tight of a quota because they are usually more educatated than ourselves, which means they will make money here thus contributing to the economy of OUR country. A country like Mexico, on the other hand, is generally poor and uneducated, so we accept less of them despite the fact that they are our neighbors.
